Hey…. So this is a little Blues tune about days gone by in the life of a guitar picker. It is a new version of an old song, with some new lyrics, way more decent vocals (man, I had pushed my gravelly vocals to the limit on the original. Which contained the essence of the moment, but was musically flawed.) Since I don’t have a bass guitar or a drum set, I used my acoustic guitar for bass, and a keyboard for drums. (The keyboard sounds better than me banging on whatever on some of my previous songs.) I am losing the ability to solo on guitar as I age, as can be heard on this, but my big mouth (vocals) are holding strong. The lyrical theme is an amalgamation of two distinct periods of my life. Military service and college in that sequential order. In college, I was walking out to my car in the parking lot, late one night, when I saw these dudes jump out of a dark sedan in the lot. They began smashing car windows and stealing whatever they could. These college dudes coming back from a late night party tried to stop them by yelling, as they drove by, and one of the dudes from the sedan pulled out a handgun and began shooting at them as they went by. Suddenly, a bullet wizzed by my head. I heard it whistle. I just stood there in the darkness, as if my life had just flashed before my eyes, taking it all in. I watched as those dudes jumped back into the sedan and they sped off, tires screeching. They turned onto the access road nearby with their lights off, heading in my direction. I looked and saw a cinderblock within reach and thought to myself that I could easily pick it up, walk over to the road and throw it through their windshield, what being the hero that I am. (That was part of my military training). They had no idea I was there. Hahahahaha…… but I quickly decided now was not the time for such things being a college student as it were. So I just continued walking to my car and ended up hanging out with my college compadres, in the parking lot, as we rehashed the incident while looking at all the smashed car windows and stuff spilled onto the pavement. I was glad I had such an old, beat up looking car, with nothing inside. Anyway, I hope you like this song. Mark

Stuart Masters combines Western and Indian Classical, Folk and Celtic influences, with contemporary percussive techniques, to create a unique, hybrid style of guitar playing and song writing. Having been invited to perform across the globe from Shanghai to Austin and even recording a Hindi Music video in North India, his creative approach to the instrument involves the 12 String Harp Guitar (an early 20th Century American instrument), using a hammer to strike the strings, a double-handed fretboard technique and live looping.
