Let Me Love You - Sunset Strings

"Parabola Destinare" is an orchestral piano and violin instrumental piece that explores the themes of destiny, hope, and strength. I am delighted to feature a prominent performance by my friend, the great violinist Danut Muresan. Structurally, the piece is built around a series of ostinatos that provide a repetitive beat foundation, allowing the dynamic contrasts to stand out more prominently.

The orchestration includes a full string section consisting of first and second violins, violas, cellos, and double basses, complemented by the inclusion of clarinet, harp, cymbal percussion, and three soloist violins. The interplay between these instruments, particularly in the string section, is designed to create a rhythmic and uplifting atmosphere that evolves throughout the piece.

The use of dynamics is noticeable with deliberate shifts that lead to an obvious climax. This is further evidenced by the layered textures and the arrangement of the instruments, hopefully enabling each section to contribute to the overall emotional arc of the composition. Additionally, the piano plays a central role, providing both harmonic support and melodic elements that interact with the strings and soloists.

I tried to balance repetition with variation, aiming to evoke a sense of resilience and determination through the musical narrative.

All that being said, I absolutely love this piece and I hope you will enjoy it too.

Hi everyone, we are thrilled to share our take on Mike Oldfield’s The Songs of Distant Earth. This project is deeply personal to us, an all-time influence and favorite since childhood, blending my piano arrangement of Let There Be Light, Supernova, and Magellan with electric guitar, vocals, percussion, strings, and band instruments. 

Mike Oldfield’s original work beautifully honored the connection between the sounds of ocean life and the vastness of space. The haunting calls of whales, echoing through the seas, remind us of companionship, community, and the beauty of our natural world. These "songs" speak to something timeless within us, a reminder that even as we dream of venturing beyond Earth to explore the stars, our roots and the music of our world remain precious.

Through this project, I wanted to reflect on how humanity might one day look back on Earth from distant galaxies, carrying with us the melodies and memories of our home. Music—like the songs of whales—connects us to one another, to the infinite, and to a future where creativity and art remain at the heart of who we are.

Music is more than entertainment—it’s a lifeline to our shared humanity and imagination. It reminds us that as we dream of space travel and a future among the stars, we carry the heart of Earth with us. Mike Oldfield’s themes inspire reflection on our place in the universe and our ability to create, dream, and connect. This project is my tribute to that vision: a celebration of the beauty and magic of existence and a hopeful destiny for humanity.

This adaptation blends my piano arrangement of Let There Be Light, Supernova, and Magellan with electric guitar, vocals, percussion, strings, and full ensemble.

Mike Oldfield’s vision linked the songs of whales with the vastness of space — reminders of companionship, community, and the beauty of our planet. In our version, we imagine looking back at Earth from distant galaxies, carrying its melodies and memories with us.
