The Letters Of EP, from Estonian father-son duo about : river, features three original cuts from the pair, each unique but tied together by about : river’s ability to compose surging synth melodies and club-ready progressive beats.

Opening the project up is L, the first of the letters referred to in the title. L provides over seven minutes of beautiful chord movement and driving bassline, setting the tone immediately. The feeling is nostalgic, melancholy, and straight from the heart.

O, as the second track is titled, slows things down to a stroll, before introducing stunning strings and a meandering synth line that seems to playfully float in and out of the listener’s consciousness. 

On the final cut, V, the duo serve up a slice of bouncy dance music complete with a rubbery bassline and keyboard stabs that is part-disco, part-house. The upbeat song is crying out for the dancefloor, and will bring some heat to clubs around the world over the colder months.

We have enlisted B.A.X. and VieL on remix duties, and they both offer their takes on the opening track L. First up is B.A.X., who spends the first two minutes of their interpretation building to an irresistible crescendo before dropping in to the beat. 

The remainder of the track revels in about : river’s gorgeous instrumentation and melody writing, delivering a memorable cut of progressive beauty.

VieL, meanwhile, offers up a take that is more heavy on percussion, but retains many of the original’s best melodic qualities to create something quite unique.

Pure class here as he makes 'Drifting Home' his own with lovely soundscapes and an additional piano melody.

PREMIERE: about : river — L (B.A.X. Remix) [Everything Will Be OK]

The latest release on Madloch's 3rd Avenue label is a remix edition of Fabian Balino's "Sent From Above EP", which was originally released in 2021.Fabian, a talented dj and producer hailing from the United States, made his debut on Sound Avenue's "Correlation" two years ago. For the remixes, Madloch invited some of the most promising artists in the electronic music scene, including DOT (formerly known as "Day Out Of Time"), Hobin Rude, and St.Ego.

DOT, from Brazil, released his amazing Copacabana EP on the Future Avenue sublabel in '21, while Hobin Rude, from Serbia, has released music on labels such as The Soundgarden, Beat Boutique, Sound Avenue, and Mango Alley. St.Ego, from Russia, has quickly gained recognition with two original EPs released on the 3rd Avenue label last year.

This remix edition of the "Sent From Above EP" is sure to be a standout release, featuring the diverse styles and talents of these artists. It's a must-listen for fans of electronic music, and a great addition to Madloch's 3rd Avenue label.

Deepwibe Underground's -102C opens the spring season by welcoming Nopi to the label for his debut EP. Ukrainian artist Nopi brings a surreal beauty to his innovative brand of electronic composition. His colourful synth leads, exotic percussive arrangements and smooth, dancefloor minded grooves have made for a sound that is all his own. Emerging in 2019, Nopi has enjoyed a three-year creative swell, earning the praise of electronic music tastemakers such as Behrouz, Guy J, Lee Burridge, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sebastian Leger and more; while All Day I Dream, Do Not Sit, Replug and TRYBESof have served as landing spots for his transcendent sound. Having released an EP and two remixes for label affiliate Deepwibe Underground, Nopi now debuts on -102C with a two track showcase entitled 'Winter Bowl'.

EP opener and title selection ‘Winter Bowl’ finds Nopi composing with strong organic qualities. Seductive from the outset, its looping hypnotism, youthful vocal fragments and subtle musicality never fail to command your attention. Creamy arps build to a temperate boil across the first act, nicely set against aquatic effects and sturdy percussion, before perfectly segueing into a dreamy, vocal-infused break and elegant piano-laced finale.

Companion piece 'Delema' builds with a subdued pulse as broken beats and exotic drums eventually reveal a world of textural and structural dimensions which blanket key changing grooves and panoramic arps. Thematically distinct throughout, the Ukrainian’s misty melodies are haunting and highly memorable, ringing out in timeless suspension, before segueing into a transcendent finale that should fair well in the morning hours. Already a favourite of Eelke Kleijn, it rounds out an excellent -102C debut for Nopi, an artist we hope to hear much more from as 2023 moves forward. Highly recommended.
