Alex Abramovitz is a Kansas City band leader who specializes in the Kansas City Jazz sound created and made famous by the likes of Count Basie, Jay McShann, Mary Lou Williams, among others.

Alex established his first band in 2008, as a duo.  In 2013, Alex began a residency at The Phoenix, a Kansas City jazz club, hosting the Saturday Jazz Brunch for nine years.  The band then continued their partnership with The Phoenix through 2024, creating "The Swing Shift".  In January 2025, Alex and his bandmates move "The Swing Shift" over to Black Dolphin, Kansas City's premiere establishment for jazz and entertainment.  Alex Abramovitz and His Swing'n Kansas City Jazz Band has also served as the house band for The Kansas City Monarchs Baseball Club of the American Association, and has partnered with Worlds of Fun, Big Slick, and the Harry S. Truman Library Institute.

Throughout the years, Alex and his band have entertained many celebrities, movies stars, comedians, athletes, and musicians such as Paul Rudd, Jason Sudekis, The Impractical Jokers, Kevin Pollak, Will Forte, Patrick Mahomes, Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce, Johnny Knoxville, Adam Ray, George Wendt, Weird Al Yankovich, Rob Riggle, Eric Stonestreet, and metal drummer Richard Christy, who has sat in with the band on several occasions.

The band has recorded three albums, "Scamps Alley" (2013), "Ripe off the Vine!" (2014), and "Fountain City Jive" (2019).  The band plans on recording another album to be released early in 2026 which will feature live performances of the band's original material.
