Dawn chorus in Bogotá, Colombia (around 5:00 am on a business day). Five 2-minute tracks joined together, recorded during March 2024 in the Chapinero area of Bogotá, Colombia. White noise filtered out. Occasional dogs, cars, motorcycles, people, and an airplane. A reminder that beauty always looks after herself, even in a chaotic city. DAWN CHORUS ist ein Citizen Science und Kunst Projekt. Es lädt weltweit dazu ein, das Morgenkonzert der Vögel zu erleben, aufzunehmen und online eigene Audiofiles zu teilen.

Das Projekt ist in der Stille der Covid-Pandemie enstanden. Es wurde vom Naturkundemuseum Bayern mit dem BIOTOPIA LAB und der Stiftung Kunst und Natur, mit Unterstützung der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, ins Leben gerufen.

Ebenso wie für das Projekt DAWN CHORUS spielte die Zeit der Stille auch für das internationale Kollektiv ALLIGATOR GOZAIMASU eine zentrale Rolle. 2020 starteten die Künstler:innen das Episodenalbum "Solange Bunte Balken Durchlaufen" - ein Album, das sich Zeit nimmt für die verschiedenen Tempi und Bedürfnisse unsicherer Zeiten.

Klangforscher:innen und Musiker:innen des ALLIGATOR GOZAIMASU wurden im April 2024 eingeladen, auf Basis der gesammelten Vogelstimmen Songs und Soundscapes zu produzieren.

Owing to its abundance of established wattle trees, Normanville's Wattle Park is especially popular with the town's local bird populations - especially, you guessed it: wattle birds. This recording was made just after dawn broke, on a cool and overcast morning. Amidst the dominant stirring of the Wattle Birds distinctive calls, little ravens, magpies, galahs and rainbow lorikeets can occasionally be heard in this recording. Given the lack of urban sound at this time of day (on a Sunday) the ocean - about a kilometre away - distantly sounds out in coarse cycles.

Dawn Chorus in the Early Days of Spring at Hodul, Balikesir

Aladağlar’da Kazıklı Ali Kanyonu'nda tüm canlı ve cansız türleri, nesneleri ses olarak bir arada tutan, oldukça da görünür olan o ağ kayalar. 

Kayaların diğer türlerle olan yoldaşlığı havada süzülen ve avını arayan kerkenez ile aynı. Bu kayalar sesin yüklenicisi ve taşıyıcısı görevini tıpkı bir derenin suyu taşıması gibi çok zengin bir şekilde gerçekleştiriyor. Sesi, kanyonun bir ucundan alıp diğer ucuna taşıyor. 

Aladağlar’da yaşayan canlıların ses ile olan bağı başka bir habitata göre ne kadar farklı? 

Kanyonun 800 metre ötesinde öten bir puhu(kartal baykuşu), avına bu tehlikeyi erken bildirmiş olması lazım. Bu ihtimaller üzerinde çok daha fazla durmadan; kayaların tüm yoldaşları ile birlikte şekillendirdiği, kendi habitatını yarattığı aşikar.

Alligator Gozaimasu is a band of many voices and noises. The music collective started in 2015 and consists of round about 60 sound lovers and musicians from all over the globe. It is a fluid sonic body, sometimes vibrant and buzzing, other times calm and in search for tiny auditive details.

Tristan Louth-Robins is a South Australian artist working principally in the medium of sound art and field recording. Ideas of sound and its signification are key elements in Louth-Robins' practice, traversing the space between the visual and aural his work is realised through the mediums of recordings, installation, visual art and performance. He is interested in sound and its associative implications - including its relationship to objects, technology, urban space, memory and the natural world. 


Since 2005, Louth-Robins has presented work in Australia and internationally as a solo artist, whilst also collaborating with artists, writers, researchers, musicians and performers. 

Working across a vast array of activities encompassing composition, sound design, installation art, field recording and workshops, his work has been featured in events such as the Adelaide Festival of Arts (2006), The National Regional Arts Festival (2012), Mildura-Wentworth Arts Festival (2013), Fairfax Festival (2013) and Adelaide Fringe Festival (2014); and selected works exhibited at galleries including The Australian Experimental Art Foundation (2009), SASA Gallery (2012, 2015), Light Square Gallery (2012) and FELT Space (2015). His audio works have been broadcast on radio including Radio National, Classic FM, The BBC (UK), Acoustic Frontiers (USA) and RBB (Germany).

Freelance photographer, filmer & sound recordist.

Tiffany Ng gives concerts for cities from the tops of towers. She is University Carillonist and Associate Professor of Carillon at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. An advocate of diversity in contemporary music, she has premiered 60+ pieces by living composers, including works for carillon and live electronics. Her concert career has taken her to fifteen countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America, including the CICO Portugal Festival, the University of Chicago Rockefeller Carillon New Music Festival, Canberra International Carillon Festival, Stanford Live, the International Carillon Festival Barcelona, the Bok Tower International Carillon Festival, and the 2008 Post-Congress Festival of the World Carillon Federation. Tiffany’s research explores the carillon as an instrument of Cold War diplomacy between the Netherlands and America; other research interests include urban soundscapes and classical music in contemporary China. She holds a diploma from the Royal Carillon School “Jef Denyn” where she studied with Geert D’hollander, a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley (Musicology & New Media), a master’s degree from the Eastman School of Music where she studied with William Porter (Organ), and a bachelor’s degree from Yale University (English and Music), where she curated a museum exhibit of bells. She is former Assistant Director of the Women in Music Festival and the Contemporary Organ Music Festival in Rochester, New York, and author of the multimedia catalog of the Municipal Carillon Museum of Mechelen, Belgium.
