Originally a limited, cassette-only release via fellow Canadian Eddie C’s Red Motorbike, we are proud to offer this album in its full glory for the first time on all formats.

Never one to shy away from synth deep dives, or raw sample flip collaging, this collection of 21 works checks all the boxes. Ambient trippers to straight up neck-snapping instrumental beats. Not forgetting tastes of the more uptempo, highly-assured and hypnotic dance floor feels the world has come to love The Mole for. Moments of casual chillin are interspersed with effortless, emotive angles, some evoking the charm of his Little Sunshine release for us in 2017.

X-pert Profat opens the set with sly statements that give way to relaxed and subtle keys over gentle, midtempo rhythms. Things switch up nicely into easy, Northwest Coast boogie-meets-beatdown feels inBreak For Ma, followed by a solid array of almost Jaylib-schooled boom bap twists, like the aptly- titledDrums 2002 and Jo Barker. Ambient cuts like AR Dayand New Family offer a refreshing tap of the brakes, setting the scene for the gorgeous, Jarre-esque Weak Stranger. We also get treated to Repepepater’s nod to Detroit house, urban-mode Balearic feels on They Work For Mr. O, and sneak attack lo-fi future funk in the form of UFOs Over Egypt, with Montreal co-pilot Cristobal on a wild shisha-lit vox narrative, earlier versions of which have blessed many of our label comrades’ DJ sets, from Dave Aju to Vincent Lemieux.

Colin de la Plante, better known by his stage name The Mole, is an electronic music artist who has consistently delivered multifaceted gems since his emergence in 2005. Unlike many in the music industry, his work does not cater to trends and fads, but instead is guided by his own, often esoteric style. His patient and deep tracks immerse listeners in weird and wonderful places, bridging house, ambient, and everything in between - as is befitting of a man who's released music for the likes of Ostgut Ton, Perlon, Kompakt, Wagon Repair, Circus Company and more.

While The Mole has always surprised his fans with his work, his latest LP, "The River Widens," feels like a significant departure, with a series of tracks that rarely topple the four minute mark. Now back in his native Canada after a lengthy stay in Berlin, we certainly caught the man at an interesting - and reflective - juncture in his career. For this single Cobblestone Jazz joined by friend, bandmate and hypnotic discotheque collagist The Mole.
Hip Waders comes from one of the group’s long studio sessions, and this gem of a jam was laid to tape after a couple days of playing. Usually the group likes to set the studio up first (tuning the room, picking their instruments and setting up the patch bay), before exploring and recording musical ideas over the rest of the week. Although bouncing along at 120bpm, Hip Waders still strides into deep waters, courtesy of jazzy, tremolo chords that ripple across its skittish electronic groove, which constantly unfolds across a full 13 minutes.

For those in the know, The Mole is perhaps one of the most influential underground House music producers of all time. They don’t call him The Mole for nothing, he digs deep and encapsulates the true spirit of the genre and there’s few producers who’s catalogue has been as widely sought after and respected as his. Anyone who’s anyone who plays House music likely has more than a few of his records locked and loaded in the crates or on a stick.

For many years he has released music on the likes of Perlon, Ostgut Ton, Sound Of Vast, Kompakt, Internasjonal and more. More recently he has formed an affiliation and connection with Circus Company on which he has released both EP’s and albums.

Speaking of which he has a new record out, a deconstructed beat tape of sorts based upon influences from Hip Hop and cassettes alongside his deep rooted love of House music.

This mix follows soon after and to be honest, it’s one we’ve been excited about receiving for some time. The Mole is a bit of a legend round these parts.

M.R.E. (Michiel Eskes) played at several well-known venues and festivals across The Netherlands throughout his dj career under his moniker Mykaz. He could be regularly seen opening the infamous 360 nights in TrouwAmsterdam and also hosted two weekly online radio shows called deepMonday and Erupt! Radio on XT3 Techno Radio, featuring the best underground and experimental electronic music by him and international renowned guests.

After putting his activities on hold for over a decade, 2023 marks the year he decided to finally finish up his own music and become more active as a producer, releasing under his initials M.R.E. 

On May 12, 2023 his debut EP 'After All' is released on @deeperstaterecords. Followed by 'Groenendaal' on @fluid-electronics on sept. 22nd.
