As September 15 approaches, the eagerly anticipated launch of Never Late, a record label poised to extend the musical journey of our platform Delayed, draws near. A marvelous "Early Color" album by one of the label's co-founders, Aspetuck, is kicking off this promising debut. "Early Color" emerges as a ten-track opus showcasing an evolution in his craft, characterized by impeccable sound design and an inviting ambiance that seamlessly floats within an ambient and deep, low-slung, hazy house. 

A track designed to grace dance floors enveloped in the ethereal haze of smoke machines is undoubtedly a 'growler' - 'Why Yellow.' From its inception, two distinct characteristics have taken the forefront: a profound affection for the resonant warmth of analog sound and a prodigious mastery of intricate sound design. The track's undeniable charm is carried by an infectious bassline sequence, which, refreshingly, doesn't steal the spotlight. Instead, it graciously steps aside to allow the intricate subtleties and meticulously filtered nuances to take the lead, propelling the track forward with an unassuming confidence.

Why Yellow? 
Because yellow embodies happiness, optimism, joy, and friendship, these sentiments encapsulate the essence of Never Late's birth and aspirations. Just as the sun's rays puncture through clouds after a brief delay, Never Late emerges as a harbinger of positivity and camaraderie, akin to yellow's vibrant resonance. The future is indeed bright, painted with shades of promise.

PREMIERE: Aspetuck - Why Yellow [Never Late]

"This set is a special one for me. It was recorded on my birthday, and maybe that's why it sounds like my whole life, step by step. There are a lot of turning points and a lot of stylistic diversity in this set, which at the same time reflects me and my worldview."

Yes Stanley is a producer and DJ from Kyiv. He creates music that combines various genres such as techno, ambient, electro, breakbeat, trance, and electronica, giving his work a unique sound.
He has independently released numerous tracks and EPs, as well as contributed to labels such as Diffuse Reality (Deep Glamour EP) and SPLOT (Entourage EP). He has also participated in compilations like Obskura, Peace Tomorrow, and #Save Ukraine, where proceeds were directed towards aiding Ukraine in light of Russian aggression.
Yes Stanley took his first steps in the Polish music scene, where he served as a resident at the "Transformator" (club in Wrocław) and made a splash with the collective "LVN".

One of his recent projects includes the charitable label-initiative, Peace Tomorrow.

Rooted in those rare moments of tranquility throughout a parent’s life, Early Color is the auditory memoir of Griff through his time as a stay-at-home dad to a growing toddler making sense of the world. Conceptually, the album is laid out as a natural progression starting with the beautiful field recordings of ‘Zoom Deck’ and warm melody of ‘Hemmed’, both evoking visions of a hazy, forest morning, slowly waking up after night’s embrace. Shaking off the slumber, ‘Steel Wool’ provides an energetic start to the day as most children tend to do, to the dismay of some parents. Followed by the understated grooves of ‘Bubby & the Submersible’.

Approaching the second half of the album, ‘Trace Fossil’ and ‘Atoll’ kick things into gear with ear-worm-like melodies that build and build throughout into an emotional trip, while ‘FGH’ brings a more melancholic take. Capping off the string of four on the floor tracks is the growling ‘Why Yellow’, a more serious number that would fit well in many a dj set. Alighting from the burst of energy, we have the breakish beats of ‘Resnooze’, whose warm bass-lines and wide ranging synths envelop the listener. Finally arriving at the last track, the aptly named ‘Sitting Quietly Looking at Things’ is a musical combination of all that was prior. Emotive, textured, impactful, as the spoken word sampled lends such an air to the track.

Early Color’s artwork was also created by Griff, through a series of layered scans and is evocative of both his music, and the visual direction of Never Late. As a collection of personal moments, sounds, experiences will be key to future releases, as we strive to find the best expression of each artist that we work with.

Last Friday marked an exciting milestone for our burgeoning record label, Never Late. We proudly unveiled the inaugural chapter of our musical journey, an awe-inspiring masterpiece brought to life by none other than one of our imprint's co-founders, the illustrious Griff Fulton, known to many as Aspetuck. As we embark on this exciting venture, each forthcoming release will be accompanied by a tantalizing blend of music, an intimate interview, and an exploration into the creative realms of the artists who will be the torchbearers of Never Late.

While it's admittedly challenging to remain entirely objective about this first mix, we can confidently say that it showcases Aspetuck's most refined work behind the decks to date. This mix is a masterclass in balance, serving as an ideal sonic bridge from day into night, perfectly tailored for an unforgettable party experience. Aspetuck & âsan present an ambient portion of a live improvised set, performed amongst friends nestled in a barn in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. The set spanned for just over 3 hours as the sun set & the sky turned to black. The two artists met at this very same barn, exactly one year earlier & have been honing their live sets separately for the last couple of months.

Aspetuck is an American producer & DJ fascinated by groove & rhythm as well as the hypnotic nature of the deeper sides of electronic music. Growing up in sleepy Vermont, without easy access to any inkling of a nightlife scene, the internet was Aspetuck's only form of musical discovery for those formative days. Years later, after living in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, Aspetuck was very quickly drawn into the robust nightlife cultures of both cities that was so absent in the rural hills of the northeast. He is not only inspired by the current scene but also heavily inspired by genres outside of the contemporary electronic world including but not limited to krautrock, dub, new wave / post-punk, shoegaze, jazz, soul & funk. Immersing himself in both music production and photography, two creative outlets that seemingly complement & balance each other, he is quietly finding his voice with the help of a broad range of influences to draw from.

Originally from Pakistan, Hassan’s output is intentional and with a meaningful perspective. A deep gratitude for his non-musical upbringing, his approach to his craft is unorthodox. Âsan has released on his own imprint Cellar Door alongside Aedi Records and Liminal Spaces.

Oslated Universe Live 10 - Aspetuck & âsan

This mix has been brewing in my head for a while now.. An inkling of it first started to pop up back in October while we were at our biannual Delayed gathering in the mountains of upstate New York. I played a set with a dear friend on the Sunday morning there - cozy & hopeful music from various corners of our collections that don't get played very often but are set aside for special moments. My favorite kind of music.. It was one of the most memorable sets I've played & brought up a ton of emotions & memories from past experiences hearing some of those songs. Memories from my wedding, memories of my brother, memories from times living in Los Angeles when Sundays were all about lounging around all day in the sunshine after nights of dancing into the early hours of the morning. We laughed, cried, danced, ate lunch, all over the course of the morning into the early afternoon. It laid the foundation for how I wanted to approach this mix for Zach.

Sundays for me have always been a day of healing - mentally, physically, emotionally. It's a day to seek inner peace & a day to be reminded of everything you have to be grateful for in spite of anything else. I recorded this mix on a rainy Saturday earlier this month, channeling all of those memories & feelings, with my dog by my feet while my wife & daughter wandered about the house, making beaded bracelets & doing various arts & crafts.

From me to you, a warm hug & the promise of spring.

In what feels like yet another full circle moment for us all at Delayed, and another chapter in a story started a few years ago via this Korean connection; we’re happy to present our latest premiere from one of our own, Griff aka Aspetuck and his track, ‘Sunny Conditions Will Continue For The Rest Of The Day’ off his forthcoming album, ‘Today is Tomorrow’. Marking the 38th release on the storied Oslated imprint, Griff’s signature warm, analog sound shines bright as he crafts an emotional journey through a diverse set of 10 tracks.

The aptly named ‘Sunny Conditions Will Continue For The Rest Of The Day’ starts off simply with a sighing melody and textured sounds giving structure that soon give way to an infectious kick and drum pattern. Almost immediately the groove sets in and never leaves, complemented by an undulating element that gives a sense of playfulness to the track overlaid with a soaring set of melodies.

Sunny Conditions, and in turn the rest of ‘Today Is Tomorrow’ will be released on the 30th of June via Oslated.
