Reverberating out of the darkness but still lurking behind the shadows, the Pitch Black EP is the debut solo release from talented Austrian producer Phentix. He's no stranger to the Cyberfunk family, having made quite the impression with his previous outing on the label, Hoax, he returns with an arsenal of fresh to unleash via Xtrah's ever growing imprint – now onto its third release. Opening with the title track, Pitch Black moves with an unrelenting twisting bassline fully reminiscent of bygone era Virus. Clean sounding yet with tons of grit, Pitch Black is a merely the opening salvo of fire to come on this EP. Vicious sees Phentix team up with Italian producer Disprove. Adopting a less is more mentality, Vicious is stripped back breakbeat heaviness; the crisp drums do the talking on sparse but funky bass stabs. With one collaboration already under their belts, Signal returns the favour on the minimal yet rolling Informer. Shuffling along at a frenetic pace, Informer rattles along as fast as it's busy hi-hats will let it while atmospheric pads and bass interplay making for moody, cinematic cut. Afterlife is a lesson in unbridled simplicity in terms of sound but no less deadly for it – it's drum and bass in it rawest form with no frills and a structure DJ's will love. Cyberfunk is steadily building an impressive catalogue of material and releases like Phentix's Pitch Black EP show that the label and it's small but close knit bunch of acts are definitely heading in the right direction.

In just under 18 months cyberfunk has released 4 EP's featuring: Break, Xtrah, Mefjus, Current Value and Phentix to name a few all of which hit the No1 spot in beatport charts.  The overwhelming support we've received at our launch parties held all across Europe and throughout the UK at both club nights and festival stage takeovers has been incredible and truly humbling but above all else is the support we've received at our London events, we'd like to take this opportunity to send a huge shout to everyone who's been down to either perform or support us at any of our events and all the artists who have released music with us so far.

We've been working very hard on this project from the very start and feel now is the perfect time to release the first in our ‘Various Artist LP’ series. VA//LP001 features the likes of: Xtrah, Simple Technique, Phentix, Mzine & Scepticz, Lockjaw and more both known and unknown names. We are always happy to provide a platform for new, previously unheard of producers like Sedition who's impressive debut - 'Spirits' gives you an idea of what's to come on his first solo project, a very exciting new producer indeed!

This will be the last release from us for 2016 so we wanted to end on a high and what better way then 10 fresh tunes for the rekordbox hey?

Damned if i know how Xian did it, but in 91, The powerhouse Museum in sydney had a W-Industries setup, and he approached them re a song to promote the installation.
Money?  Na…
But.. 3 hrs or so playing Dactyl Nightmare before the public had access…
Oh….My…. God…….
There and then…  i know what the gaming future would be… just took almost 30 or so years to make it into my lounge room…

And that  is how this song was born.

(Apologies for the less than good audio.. had to do some serious cleaning because of the SVHS drop outs)
