On this episode of meeting midway we take listen in on a panel discussion recently held at the Missouri Department of Mental Health 2023 Tiered Support Summit. The speakers for this summit included Sarah Ekart from Guardhouse, Kathleen Deppeler from DMH, Dr. Lucas Evan's from DMH and Nicole Jones from DMH. The panel discussion focuses in on the Missouri's Tiered Support progress by taking a historical approach by moving from individual consultation to agency wide consultation, the infusion of value based payments (present), and future goals currently being worked on by Tier 2, and Tier 3. Listener's will gain  a great deal of knowledge from this discussion that we hope will be used and fruitful for others. 

Please not that there will be no podcast released in Dec 2023 but we will be back in January 2024 with more episodes.

Ep. 13 - Missouri 2023 Tiered Support Summit

Complementing the exhibition Biodiversity and Betadiversity, the gallery hosted a panel conversation on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 4 PM, offering a diverse understanding of current thoughts on climate, balance, the natural world, and environmental narratives and histories.

The panel was moderated by Klaus Biesenbach. He is the director of the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin. Before that, he directed MOCA in Los Angeles and MoMA PS1 in New York. He also served as chief curator at large at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, for two decades. In the nineties, Biesenbach initiated KW, Berlin, and the Berlin Biennale.

Participating invited panelists included Lisa Botti, assistant curator to Klaus Biesenbach at Neue Nationalgalerie, recent co-curator of Isa Genzken 75/75, and co-curator on upcoming exhibitions of works by Andy Warhol and Nan Goldin; Enuma Okoro, writer, curator, and Financial Times columnist, whose recent exhibition The Flesh of the Earth was on view at Hauser & Wirth, New York; Andreas Greiner, gallery artist and professor of media art at Muthesius Kunsthochschule, Kiel, whose recent solo show at the gallery, Game of Life, focused on AI, hybrid-techno sculpture, and speculative Exodus strategies for planetary life; and Haley Mellin, exhibiting artist, land activist, and founder of Art into Acres.

Live audio recording of the Public Roundtable Discussion with Ana Mijić (Universität Wien), Viktoria Sereda (VUIAS), and Oleksandra Bienert (Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations), moderated by Lidia Kuzemska (Academic Coordinator War, Migration, Memory Research Group).
During the discussion, the panellists reflect on the short and long-term impact of displacement from Ukraine on the displaced persons and the host countries amidst migration anxieties in Europe. Furthermore, they discuss to what extent comparisons and lessons learned from the previous situations of mass displacement in Europe might be useful in assessing current and future strategies to support the displaced from Ukraine in their plans.

The roundtable discussion is part of the workshop “Ukrainian Un/Certainties: Mobilities, Memories and Representations in Times of War”, organised by the research group Prisma Ukraїna: War, Migration, Memory at the Forum Transregionale Studien on 14–15 November 2024 in Berlin.

Ukrainian Un/Certainties: The Impact of Displacement on Host and Home Societies (14 Nov 2024)

«Phenotypic plasticity» refers to the ability of organisms to adjust their physiology, morphology or development in response to environmental changes. This ability is especially crucial for immobile organisms, such as trees, which cannot move away from unfavourable conditions.
Performance artist Maja Renn and scientist Dr. Kate Johnson of the Plant Ecology Research Lab (PERL) explore the phenomena from a scientific and an artistic perspective. How are trees adapting to climate change? What can humans learn from trees?

Our series from the Reversing the Arrow conference, held in June 2024 at Boulder’s Chautauqua Park, continues with a Lightning Round, in which each of our three guests talk about their recent published research in less than 45(ISH) minutes — all while enjoying a refreshing summer saisson from Denver’s TRVE Brewing.

Virginia Tech Assistant Professor of Management Katie Brownell leads off with The Triad Divided, a paper examining how certain types of narcissism can actually be beneficial in certain entrepreneurial settings.

Then, returning Creative Distillation guest Beth Embry, Assistant Professor in the Management and Entrepreneurship Academic Area at the University of Kansas, talks about trauma’s impact on the workplace, a subject explored in her paper, If the Body Keeps the Score.

Seungah Lee, Policy Adviser, Consultant and Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Organizations from HEC-Paris, closes out the episode by discussing the findings from Entrepreneurship For All?, her study of the rise of global entrepreneurship since 1950.
