Bastards of Young (The Replacements cover)

Peter Jesperson is a music legend. Born in Minnesota, Jesperson was a seminal figure in the Minneapolis punk and new wave scene of the 1970's and 1980's. He co-founded Twin/Tone Records, worked at Oar Folkjokeopus record store and the Jay's Longhorn bar, and is credited with discovering the Replacements. He later served as the band's manager.

In "Lost in the Songs," producer Todd Melby interviews Jesperson about his love affair with music, his relationship with the Replacements and his addictions. Melby also talked with Chris Osgood of the Suicide Commandos and Tommy Stinson, bassist for the Replacements, about Jesperson.

In 1980, Melby slipped in the mosh pit at Jay's Longhorn while dancing to the Suburbs, a Twin/Tone Recording artist. His buddies waited hours before taking him to the emergency room to get his knee examined. He also remembers seeing the Replacements play live at various Minneapolis venues.

Baxie talks to legendary Massachusetts based singer/songwriter Juliana Hatfield! Since the late 1980's Juliana has released nineteen solo albums (with the promise of more on the way). She's released three albums of covers--including last year's "Juliana Hatfield Sings ELO". Plus, she released several records with her first band, The Blake Babies. She's also had numerous collaborations with the likes of Evan Dando of The Lemonheads and Paul Westerberg of The Replacements. Juliana talks about all of that, songwriting, touring, and many of her hits like "My Sister"(1993), "Spin the Bottle"(1994), and "Universal Heart-Beat"(1995).

Juliana is going on tour this month with Soul Asylum and will be making a stop at The Sinclair Theater in Cambridge on November 4th. She and the Juliana Hatfield Three will also make a stop at The Drake in Amherst on November 3rd.

Once in Awhile is a country flavored pop song that I wrote 3-4 years ago and promptly forgot.  I stumbled across it the other say and thought it might be worth a revisit. Again I have remixed the song for clarity, added some new keyboards, and redid the drums completely. I also shortened it significantly and autotuned the crap out of my tortured vocals and this is the final product. Once in Awhile (2025 mix)

As the Lines on My Face Grow Deeper was written and demoed when I was considerably younger and actually had little perspective on life.  This is one of the final remixes that I will be undertaking of previously recorded songs.  Emily sings very nicely on his one.  For this mix, I have added some new keyboards, and rethought the drum track.  I have also remixed the song to improve sonic clarity.
