Used Love Filter's vowel formant patch and put it over the Brass Ensemble patch. Also used Hardkore for the rhythm guitar/s. Besides those effects, everything is the original Crash SF2's timbres.
I actually went to the trouble of tapping out all those 16th notes for the hi-hats, only ever moving them by half steps afterwards when they were too far out of sync. Then I turned off the snap-to grid for drawing the kicks and snares, only giving them slight corrections when they weren't synced with the hats closely enough. 
I really wanted to get that part of the sound right, because it's a big part of what makes the song as cool as it is. I think the drums turned out the best as far as sequencing goes.

Update: touched up the vocals by adding in the Reverse Cymbal patch to get some of that sibilance in there. Also increased the volume for the last whistle notes so they aren't lost in the mix, and gave it an LFO2 for those low notes.

MIDI is off kunstderfuge, iirc. Pitched up 1 semitone to match the Beecham recording. I fiddled with the "vocal" track to give it a bit of cantabile. The part at around 1:13 - 1:26 is the best part of the whole thing, as far as the accompaniment goes.

Music for Double String Orchestra (February 2025)

A "vertically layered" composition written for school. There's the main or "Idle" layer, an "Exploring" layer that gets added in platforming areas (replaces layer 1 when talking to NPCs), and an "Action" layer for combat and hazardous moments.

I'm *very* pleased with how this one turned out. I managed to nail the vibe I was going for. Then once I played it back at .789x speed, I heard so many instances of temporary major modulations and II-Vs but they never last and always turn minor again. So, the piece is made of so much major but has an overall A minor. It's the perfect sound for a Disneyland ravaged by paint thinner.
I don't know all the theory behind this yet, because I let the music guide me & thus haven't charted every chord- but SOME of those instances were very deliberate (like the modulation at 0:17, even if IDK which major key was implied yet). I plan to update the MuseScore sheet music with any changes I made in FL and upload the score.

There was a point where layer 1 sounded too thin, and then I remembered a trick from when we heard a cue from "Basic Instinct" in a previous class. The strings were doubled with synth strings! So in layer 1, I have a low-pass synth string that doubles Violin II and Viola.

Q: Why do I use the Wario Land 4 soundfont to some capacity for so many tracks?
A: Because I love the way it sounds, obviously. Half the reason why I'll start making a MIDI in the first place is that I want to hear what it'd sound like with the Wario Land 4 soundfont.
