When I finish making a recreation, I tend to fool around with it afterwards, doing with them what I do with any other MIDIs I can get my gnarled, ice-cold hands on. I kind of got self-conscious about how many of them I ended up uploading, in the sense that I have to really like the re-tooling before I publish it.

I made this by isolating and recording each individual track in EbMusEd, then slowly going through each track all the way through, transcribing by ear.  (Interestingly, I did the 8-bit part last.)
Because the Earthbound soundfont doesn't have "Pokey Kick" (not to be confused with Falcon Kick) under the list of included instruments, I sampled the drum directly from the aforementioned isolated track.

I think it came out really well.

The two songs seemed very similar in tone, and they're both from SNES RPGs, so I figured I'd just make a point of intersection, of sorts.

Back Alley Beat — NELWARD

OOOOkay, let's talk about The Biolizard. I've spoken nothing about this at all in the time it's been in my files, so this will seem like a whole lot of sound in a small amount of time. Altogether I spent something like 24-36 hours I think to get to where I am total, and it's still not done, but I haven't touched it since July 13th, so I'm uploading what I have and leaving it until further notice. It's a damn shame because it's a relatively bumpin' cover in my opinion, but for some reason my body doesn't wanna touch it with a 10ft pole.

Reasons? I've got 'em (with the first one being the aforementioned sort of visceral, procrastination-inspiring feeling that makes no goddamn sense).
There are a lot of things about the song that are annoyingly layered. For example, not a lot of people realize that the Overdrive scales and the vocals are LAYERED OVER THEMSELVES 3-4 TIMES OVER. It's that and shit like the high-pass filters and things that made me think I might never actually get around to finishing it, which is why I'm caving and uploading what I have already.

Bionic Chomposaurus - "The Biolizard" Unfinished EarthBound Remix

I'm uploading this version because it really draws attention to the actual intricacies that I put into this song.  Take for example: those drums are fuckin' TAAASTY as all hell at 98bpm (although here it's set to 100 because I haven't opened the project for a month and I had a lapse in memory), and because FL's methods of pitch-bending and slow-down are different from audio editing software you can hear the differences more clearly and in a way that sounds better.

OmegaGMGS2 (My go-to soundfont strictly because of how many High Quality out-of-the-way instruments there are)

Touhou (Flute, Saxophones, as well as some Basses and Harpsichord, otherwise same as SGM, where it's to stand in for OmegaGMGS2)
Earthbound (for Overdriven Guitar and other Pokey-related instruments)

Then, many months later, go through it all over again, this time to write down the Preset/Sound Bank relationships for each one, because I didn't the first time, and my laziness came back to haunt me once I started fiddling with Polyphone, intending to rename the WL4 presets and make my life easier.
