The Birushana Ichiji Shin Suirin Kan Darani is derived from the Kanromon, or the “Gate of Sweet Nectar.” The translation roughly means “I take refuge in the great mantra of the bodhisattvas” or “Homage to the Universal Awakened One, Send Forth [Compassionate Light].” It carries a joyful melody and an uplifting message, emphasizing that in taking refuge, we find faith in not being alone.

Ed Buryn's "Vagabonding in America" was a highly successful guide on alternative living and travelling, published in the 1970s, and (sadly, but I strongly assume) not very appliable in many aspects nowadays. Anyway, there are nice "Off the tape" inserts, one of them is "Beach Walking". I transferred these words into a (fake) recording and even a song (second half of the track). Enjoy ...

I practice Zen too, so sometimes I combine traditional Zen Buddhist chants with guitar instrumentals that I have composed; other times, I just sing a folk or popular song that resonates with me.
