The magic that I find in creative outlets, is that sometimes I'm not aware of what is being conceived until it's finished. 

I have performed for numerous years primarily in Seattle, Wa. From 2004-2012 I was a soloist with the Total Experience Gospel Choir. While in the choir I also performed in Black Nativity from 2007-2011, first at Intiman Theatre then at The Moore Theatre. The songs I was most known for while with the choir were 'His Eye Is On The Sparrow' and 'Ave Maria.'

Around the same time (2004-2005) I was introduced to Ricky Pharoe and Tru-ID, two local rappers who found my music on myspace and inquired about my singing. Macklemore was helping with their project and that was my introduction to that guy ;) Years later I'm singin' back ups and helping work out vocal arrangements on what becomes a NUMBER 1 album - The Heist - and my best friend Ray Dalton (featured on 'Whisper') has a hook on a platinum song called 'Can't Hold Us.' Needless to say I am so blessed and grateful to be a part of that magic as it's unfolded over the last year (((♥))) 

Besides working with Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Ray Dalton, I've also featured with Theoretics, Nu Era, KnowMads

My album "Acoustic Originals" (released in 2012) is a compilation of pieces I've written and recorded over the past ten years. They are my personal favorites. This album is very raw and I look at it like an opportunity for people to hear my music in its most naked and organic form, the conception of ideas to be molded. I've been so blessed to have a community of love, talented people and heavenly support. I have two dear friends featuring on the album, an extremely talented vocalist named Ray Dalton, as well as a young man with a glorious future ahead of him named Joseph Comin feature on guitar. All in all this CD is the rawest most honest reflection of my experiences in life and working through what they have taught me.

Starting as a label that served basically as a platform for their friends’ music in 2010, Uncanny Valley evolved into a record label that assembles acclaimed artists from the electronic music scene not only from the label’s base in Dresden but also from Germany and beyond. With a strong emphasis on the records’ artwork the label heads Philipp Demankowski, Conrad Kaden and Carl-Johannes Schulze are constantly on a mission to establish and refine the artists from the roster as well as to search for new talents. Artists as Jacob Korn, Cuthead, Credit 00, Massimiliano Pagliara, CVBox or Panthera Krause all feel at home on the label, giving them the chance to develop projects that are not only music related but can also integrate different art forms. With the two offshoots Rat Life and shtum under its belt, Uncanny Valley does not stand still to explore the full spectrum of electronic and not so electronic music from House via Disco, Hip-Hop or Ambient through to Techno. A range that can also be depicted when the three label heads come together for a DJ set as Uncanny Valley DJs.

Regarded upon his 2006 arrival as a promising beatmaker looming in the shadows of J Dilla, Madlib, waterfalls and Dabrye, Steven Ellison -- known as Flying Lotus -- nullified all comparisons only two years later with Los Angeles. On that album, his first of five for the Warp label, Ellison distilled a uniquely crisp, spasmodic, and heady sound with elements of hip-hop, avant-garde jazz, IDM, and dubstep. While the abovementioned producers fueled Ellison, he had also been excited as a youngster by the '90s West Coast rap classics that combined programming and live instrumentation. His sound continued to develop as he put his own twist on the approach, recording with a crop of jazz musicians including the indispensable likes of bassist Thundercat and strings master Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. This process began with the turbulent 2010 set Cosmogramma and peaked in terms of acclaim in 2014 with You're Dead!, which crashed the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 and spawned the Kendrick Lamar collaboration "Never Catch Me," a Grammy nominee for Best Dance Recording. Ellison devoted a few years to various forms of film work and the operation of his revered Brainfeeder label, and returned in 2019 with Flamagra, his second consecutive album to top Billboard's Dance/Electronic chart.

It is now over 20 years of exploring urban Africa. Countless trips to the buzzing megacities of Africa from Lagos, to Accra, Nairobi, Dakar or Jozi. But we also visited remote places such as Asmara the capital of Eritrea or Lusaka in Zambia. Back then we soon realized that the unknown side of Africa was not its exotic traditions, but the booming urban scenes on the continent. Now in 2022 with styles like Afrobeats, Gqom, Amapiano or Trap Africa is finally starting to reach the international markets.

Back then we asked ourselves: How come not a single kwaitostar from South Africa had an album out internationally. How come the international music market ignored the most popular music styles Africa was dancing to: Kwaito, Bongoflava, Hiplife, Afrohouse, Coupe Decaller … you name it. There was work to do. Work that took us to meet Jo’burgs kwaito cats, dive into the Bongoflava world of Dar es Salaam, meet people like a young 2face, D'Banj, Pee Square and others in Lagos or check out the Hiplife scene in Accra. We celebrated Urban Africa with concerts and tourprojects featuring the likes of Mzekezeke, Bongomuffin, D’Banj, Pee Froiss, Daara J, African China & many many others. Putting out compilations that introduced urban scenes such as Bongo Flava, Afrohouse, Senerap & Naija hiphop to an audience outside of Europe. The new urban music world was growing in Africa – but the rest of the world was just waking up to this new sound. We ended up sitting in a stretch limo end of the 90ies driving down Champs d’Elysee with Magic System. They had just dropped their major hit premier Gaou. In London to the Stratford Rex had 2Face take the stage playing his first show outside of Nigeria. 

Then the journey of Outhere records took a new direction in 2006. It all happend in a Pizza restaurant in Bamako. Bassekou Kouyate gave a relaxed early evening gig together with the likes of Kassemady, Lassana Diabate and other stars of Malian music – together with Westafrican music scholar Lucy Duran it was decided on the spot to record the international debutalbum of Bamako‘s king of the ngoni. The result was ‚Segu Blue‘ an album that became one of the world music successes of 2007. With three albums under his belt Bassekou Kouyate and his band have played everywhere from Mexico to Japan, to New York Central Park, Carnegie hall or London's Royal festival hall. The band has collected numerous awards, a Grammy nomination and has appeared 2 times on BBC‘s Jools Holland.

Today Outhere records works with artists from all over Africa celebrating all kinds of styles. There is the young and inclredible Mokoomba from Zimbabwe, who have fused the different local musicgenres of their country into a new urban style. It's an infectious blend of zamrock, congolese rumba guitars mixed with the raw spirituality of rural Zim traditions. From Accra, Ghana comes our other incredible liveact: Santrofi, named after a colourful bird. This collective is made up of some of the greatest young musicians from Ghana blending raw guitarband Highlife with contemporary afrobeats and trap styles. Never miss any of their shows.
