'The Chefs Song' is a satirical vaudeville that dramatises the pressures of working in a busy kitchen. What the theatrical comedy of the song belies  is a sinister truth, a tragedy that plagues our modern societies — the prevalence of modern slavery in the 21st century.

According to a study by the Human Trafficking  Foundation (2018): More than 1 in 10 people who work in hospitality in the world are reported to be working under modern slavery conditions. For far too long, this has remained hidden from the public eye — behind the closed doors of some kitchens, hotels, and restaurants.

You might not know it yet, but I am and have always been a HUGE fan of Eric Prydz, would it be under his Pryda name or Cirez D.
I had the privilege to meet him and talk to him back in 2006, and then have been buying all of his releases, and a couple of years back enjoyed one of his HOLO shows in London.
You might ask why I took me so long to make a reboot with one of his tracks. Well actually I had done one way back in the days, in 2007,  but I wasn't feeling it again until now.
So here is my first Eric Prydz reboot under my "The Machine" project, but expect it not to be the last. I am full of inspiration now and am decided to pay the man, the legend, tribute in 2024, a little bit in advance of his 20 years, but who cares :P

These vocals actually have a somewhat raw mix - stereo delay and reverb (I know I put way too much) on 2 layered vocal tracks of screaming with a high cut EQ. & Yes it's a very bare bones beat but I wanted my yelling to be heard more clearly in the mix. (Besides, our voices ARE instruments! :) After making so many synth and guitar based beats to shout on I figured a simple trap drum kick and snare pattern with high hats and hella heavy 808 bass should do the trick. Inspired by Dante’s Inferno, “Psychopath’s Monologue” charts the path of damnation – from purgatory to the depths of hell. The track fleets between the harsh and the heavenly, the brutal and the beautiful - Grinding metal guitar and baselines layered over pounding industrial techno kicks encases the theatrical spoken-lyrics delivered as an elegiac monologue. 

The composition is an assemblage of 7 sonnet poems written over a 10 year period. The work assimilates ancient imagery with the contemporary. While the meaning of the lyrics is often abstracted and cryptic, its delivery is always awash with emotion.

“‘Psychopath's Monologue” is  the second single of The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara (TCOMAS). The track forms part of the independently produced album ‘Full Spectrum'.
