If you want a list of Digital's achievements in the D&B game, well, unlucky, there just isn't room for them all here. We can give you the headlines though: part of the original rave soundsystem scene since day one, nearly two decades of production experience, releases on virtually every well-respected label including Metalheadz, Reinforced, 31 and his own Function and Phantom Audio imprints. And now his uncompromising dubwise style has arrived on Technique.

First we land “In the Basement”. A sparse and spacey rhythm track marks out the intro as dark chords fade in and out of focus. Then Digital shows the true meaning of dub as he twists a powerful sub-bass injection around unrelenting half-time beats. This is true post-modernist jungle, referencing the past's blueprint while remaining steadfastly current.

“New Age Jungle Funk” breathes new life into some more classic junglist tropes. There's percussion pushed to the boundary of aggressive distortion, raggamuffin stabs and rough-hewn bass. The monumental weight of the low-end is only accentuated by the shimmering glimmers of hi-hat and cymbal that weave their way through the mix. This is dark, late-night music for when it's time for the set to get serious.

The package is finished off with three mixes of “Midnight Moves”, featuring the vocals of New Zealand's Stepa. Her voice combines the ability to effortlessly float over the punch of the beats and bass with an intensity and attack all of its own. The original delivers the stripped-to-the-bone rawness we expect from Digital's D&B, with the jagged landscape punctuated by the extra texture Stepa brings.

Meanwhile, TREi steps up on remix duties. The New Zealand DJ and producer has already proven his credentials with releases on labels as varied as Viper, Commercial Suicide and Shogun and consolidated his position with a second album last year. His “Midday” mix draws out the melodic underpinning of “Midnight Moves” while maintaining the percussive integrity at its heart. Then his “Midnight” mix takes things into the big room, delivering a mighty build-up and drop that's bound to get the party moving.

Anyone who knows their bass music will need no persuasion to find room in their set list for this release. Digital's name alone is all the seal of approval that a true aficionado will need.

Drumsound & Bassline Smith - Evolution Mini Mix for 1Xtra DNB Soundclash

Infrasonik – Tazer Tag EP
Release Date: 19th October 2014

You might be thinking that Infrasonik are newcomers. You'd be wrong. Individually, Locuzzed, Dossa and Niceadvice have been carving a swathe of rave-destruction across their native Austria and beyond with monstrous DJ sets and a multitude of individual productions. But now they're freshly signed as a team on WAR to show what they can do when their powers combine.

The EP's title track, “Tazer Tag” is a shot of chemically-darkened, genetically-modified adrenaline. This is a science fiction story set in a world where everything is dangerous, with every sound rearing up and closing in as part of a paranoid percussive landscape. For obsessive compulsive genre-labellers, file this under Teutonic neurofunk. For the rest of us, consider this as one to fade to when the set needs to get a touch more militant.

Then “URP” goes one step more experimental. We enter in the middle of a battle between a pizzicato bass tone and a formant-flavoured stab, and this sets the pace for the rest of the track. Layers of rhythmical elements flow in and out of focus, creating disconcerting waves of energy. This is Infrasonik showing off their technical chops, delivering a dubbed-out soundsystem workout for the appreciation of beat lovers everywhere.

Then out of the shadows of the sub-basement steps the final track, “Explosion”. This is where Infrasonik show they can take it to the big room. Restrained guitar plucks gradually modulate over delicately varying oscillators, but this is just to set the scene. Things rapidly heat up, culminating in a powerfully satisfying drop featuring driving beats, siren calls in the mid and treble, as well as a multiplicity of masterfully twisted basslines. This is scientific dancefloor music for when you need to hype things just one notch more.

So whether the vibe you're looking for is straight-up party or gritty dystopia, this EP proves these three producers can supply it. With an undeniable mastery of production technique at their thirty fingertips, Infrasonik is a name you're not going to be allowed to forget.

Anyone who’s been paying attention in the last six months will know that Ram Records is having yet another incredible year. A worldwide dance music institution, Andy C and Scott Bourne’s record label has gone from strength to strength, having nurtured a plethora of the bass music scene’s most exciting artists over the last two decades.

One such artist is Culture Shock. A Ram Records star since his debut release in 2006, this incredible producer has collaborated with Sub Focus and Brookes Brothers and remixed Nero’s ‘Guilt’ and Netsky’s brand new single ‘Come Alive’ into veritable drum & bass anthems. Meanwhile his solo productions have turned dance floors across the globe upside down thanks to his powerful productions and inimitable approach to D&B.

Here Culture Shock follows up last year’s ‘Protection’ with another stunning single that’s sure to please fans of his unique style. ‘I Remember’ is progressive dance floor drum & bass at its finest. Gradually building and growing, pulling you in gently and never letting go, this track is the perfect balance of beautiful musicality and effortless, uninhibited energy. Fans of Culture Shock’s sound will be instantly infatuated with this one.

Meanwhile ‘Troglodyte’ demonstrates Culture Shock’s deeper and darker side perfectly. Rolling and bouncing along with a squelching bassline and chopped up vocal snippets this Caveman style skull smasher threatens to bash anything in its path with an immense bassline club, expertly crafted for maximum floor-shaking damage.

UK drum & bass heads Drumsound & Bassline Smith are back for 2013.

After a sensational 2012 ride that highlighted with two top 40s in What Can You Do For Me ft Utah Saints & Radio 1 A-list track 'Through The Night', their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, main support on the DJ Fresh Nextlevelism UK Tour and gigs around the world, including UKF's sold out Brixton O2 Academy New Year's Eve party and remixing Jeff Wayne's classic 'War Of The Worlds', the boys have been busy locked in the studio working on new tracks.

The first fruits of this hard labour arrive in fine style with something special for their growing amy of bass fans, the free download promo only track 'Back To The Future', a D&B tribute flashback to all things great about the early 90's hardcore scene.

'Back To The Future' will be available as a free download promo for a limited time only so grab it whilst it's hot!!

2013 also sees the lift-off of the Drumsound & Bassline Smith "Wall Of Sound" live show, with the wraps coming off at the Drumsound & Bassline Smith 'One In A Million' single showcase party in London this Spring.

Already announced in the first wave of acts playing at Belgium's Dour Festival this year, alongside the likes of Amon Tobin, Skream and Andy C, Drumsound & Bassline Smith have already started to confirm themselves as a main stage act across Europe throughout the year.
