Slam and Obscure Shape & SHDW step up for the second wave of Radio Slave ‘Grindhouse’ remixes on Rekids this February.

One of techno’s most iconic records, ‘Grindhouse’ first appeared on Radio Slave’s ‘No Sleep’ series before spawning multiple remixes from Dubfire, Danton Eeprom, Terence Fixmer and Nic Fanciulli. Kick-started by Len Faki, last year saw the announcement of a series of remixes with more to come from Vatican Shadow, Markus Suckut, Lady Starlight and Special Request.

Complete with relentless kicks, sinister drones and industrial elements, Part Two is not for the faint-hearted. Starting with Slam, the Soma bosses keep things dark, with rattling top lines and echoing effects resulting in a truly decadent techno floor destroyer.

Following a remix of Radio Slave’s ‘Vision’ in 2016, Obscure Shape & SHDW’s abilities are held in high regard by the Rekids owner and their rework of ‘Grindhouse’ reinforces why. Complete with a rumbling low- end, metallic melodies and soaring synths, the From Another Mind founders continue to establish themselves as two of techno’s most exciting names.

21st May sees Spain’s established DJ/producer Roentgen Limiter make is debut on Fatima Hajji’s distinctive techno imprint, Silver M, with his brand new EP, The Prophecy.

 

Hailing from Barcelona, Roentgen Limiter has spent more than a decade experimenting to make his musical style unique and has performed in hundreds of clubs around the world. His recent releases on labels such as DSR Digital and Wumping Lab Records have stormed Beatport’s dark / hard techno chart and now he’s back with one of his best EPs to date.

 The essential offering comprises of three stomping techno gems ‘The Prophecy’, ‘Take You Down’ and ‘Return To 90's’ which take the listener on a dark but uplifting journey of intense drum programming, twisted synth melodies, dramatic sound effects and alluring vocal samples.

Berlin based DJ/producer Alignment returns to Etruria Beat this May to deliver ‘Interference’, accompanied by two commanding and powerful remixes from Luca Agnelli and Madrid’s Regal.
 
With releases to date on the likes of Involve Records, Voxnox and Etruria Beat, with his last release on the Italian label coming in the form of his ‘Gravity’ EP in 2016, Berlin’s Alignment ranks amongst the shortlist of names to keep an eye on when it comes to emerging producers within the techno sphere. 
For his return to Etruria, the Italian steps up to reveal two high-octane cuts whilst Etruria founder Luca Agnelli and Involve boss turn in impressive interpretations of the lead track. 
Opening the EP, title cut ‘Interference’ combines 90’s acid sounds with trance-tinged synths to reveal a production primed for the dancefloor, before handing over control to Luca Agnelli who introduces hypnotic and suspenseful builds and breaks to proceedings, whilst switching up the track’s lead lines to create a warping journey. 
Next up, Regal who raises the energy even further and reinforces the original’s acid patterns with his own trademark sonics before ‘Turn Off’ concludes the package as hypnotic synth melodies merge alongside powerful driving rhythms throughout.

Israeli producer Shlomi Aber makes his @secondstateaudio debut this summer with an assured package of nuanced, nimble techno, of the standard you’d expect from a chameleonic producer with over 17 years in the game.

“Orion” is a paranoia-laced stomper, with rattling beats and synths that dart around like eyeballs scanning the crowd for friends. Silky stabs lend the track a cinematic quality, almost mimicking a scene in a horror movie. “Nuclear” is just as evocative, layering a harmony of string stabs over teasing synthetic hi-hats and whipping FX. It’s complex and intelligent, but Shlomi makes it sound effortless. The Pan-Pot remix of “Orion” is stormier. The same rubbery, springy bassline is there but the track is trippier in character thanks to tribal drums and synths that pop like rayguns. Think “galactic circus” and you’re getting close. Buzzing insect sounds usher in “Brikz”, an atmospheric track designed to put you on edge, in a good way. At the track’s tensest point, the drums drop out altogether before returning in downtempo breaksy patterns. Definitely not your typical techno cut, but then nothing Aber does is typical.

Second State is thrilled to welcome this master producer into the family with a release that promises to expand minds while moving bodies.
