This podcast is inspired by the gigs I’ve had since 2025 started. I played a set on new years day in Copenhagen, that really surprised me. I came in prepared, but decided to throw all that away as I entered the booth, so the set ended up being completely improvised and it was one of the best sets I ever played. When I recorded this podcast I did not plan anything, I just went with what felt right in the moment.

For episode #42 of our Groovebox series we invited 8ULENTINA from New York. 

8ULENTINA is a New York based interdisciplinary artist, electronic producer, and DJ. Known for his dynamic DJ sets and compositions, 8ULENTINA’s projects are characterized by his use of sound design, percussive intensity, storytelling and theatricality. 8ULENTINA co-founded CLUB CHAI (2016–2021), a record label and curatorial platform based in Oakland, California with Lara Sarkissian and currently facilitates SILLAGE, a collaborative platform for contemporary sonic artifacts.

Gloria Rose. A name as unassuming as the humble stature that makes up the person. But take care - a leopard’s prey rarely knows it’s the target before it’s being stripped apart. 

For the artist has been steadily turning into a tour-de-force both here in London and increasingly on the continent too. Sultry techno & alluring grooves lure those in their midst into a false sense of security, before she pounces, snaring her target with a level of drive & prowess that instantly commands the dance floor. At that point all you can do is enjoy the ride, powerless, at her mercy, the only destination is her own.

Live recording of my opening set for Unfold XC, New Years Day 2025. 

Waking from a world of hazy dreams she flows among landscapes of consciousness, following the very instincts of her primal nature, yielding to in a dance already lost to time itself... 

With less than a week before the well anticipated 100th Unfold, I revisit my opening set from one of the last extended editions, the 90th Unfold back on New Years Day. Every Unfold is an honour to play, but kicking off the first Unfold of the year was a special one for me, and seemed to spark 
the threads of an already gorgeous year. 

Extended Unfold's are a beast of nature. The opening set always sets the tone for an event and for one such as this it was integral to approach this task with grace and consideration. This one is naturally very differen to my typical sound. She takes her time to build the floor, weaving between trance and techno from 125 to 140 over the duration of 2 beautiful hours.

The trans*disciplinary musician, artist, co-parent of MYTO and resident DJ for the Makaan record label and community played a beautiful set for us, shaped by spiralling melodies, wavey basslines and plenty of playful touches throughout.

Next up in our mix series is our good friend Kasper Marott - a DJ, producer, promoter and label head based in Copenhagen. Kasper is one of the heads behind the record label and event series Axces, as well as the beloved Copenhagen party series Haldisk and Essence, and the iconic Kune Festival. Since his debut in 2014, Kasper has shown his skill to produce ecstatic yet reflective tracks with a clear voice over and over. With his highly refined taste across genres he has also proven to be a unique talent as a DJ – his ear for the percussive elements of music is of a rare kind and his DJ sets sliding easily between moods, tempos and styles.

In this mix, Kasper taps into his techno-infused realms with a 3+ hour journey of uplifting euphoria at its finest. Rolling psychedelia meets ecstatic dubby delights, delivered with the unmistakable touch only Kasper can bring. He expertly masters taking the listeners through highs and lows seamlessly, in a fluid dance between tension and release, as a sonic exploration that balances chaos and control, bliss and introspection.
