The past few months have been a wonderful time for my eldest son and his partner, who are expecting a child. They wanted to share the good news of the pregnancy but had some concerns about going public in the early stages and decided to wait until the first sonogram and medical check confirmed everything was as it should be. 

During those early days the undivided love they felt for each other in starting a new family grew and when they felt secure enough they finally shared their news with the family.

I’ll never forget the excitement when they showed us the first sonogram photo – that new family was becoming more real with every passing day.
Then came the second image, showing the baby nearing full development, with a clear indication of gender.  Jason and Nicky felt it was time to name their child, choosing Richard Terence Reeves – RTR.   Sharing the name Terence with me makes me so very emotional.  
Being a granddad was something I had never expected but I am filled with pride to be just that to Richard Terence Reeves.

Deep thanks to Hans for once again producing such a wonderful arrangement for the song I wrote to celebrate the occasion.  It really captures the growing excitement we‘ve all been feeling over the past few months. Thanks so much for listening. 

Gary has asked me to apologize to anyone who has messaged him over the last couple of months and hasn’t received a reply.  Health problems and hospital appointments, among other things, have been taking up much of our time recently.  We both want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has listened to, liked, commented on and reposted ‘Soundcloud Village’ - your support is keeping our spirits sky-high.  (Terry Reeves)

Notes: 
This track starts out on Skype with the three of us sharing a drink and Jay pulling up his guitar and sharing his idea for a bass line.  I proceed to work on it and next call I send him a couple of revisions.  

Jay says "no, I mean like this"...my response was did you just Dave Grohl me? You could see the look of horror in his eyes as he begins processing what was said... I busted out laughing as I knew what he meant...but couldn't resist the opportunity to for a little mischief.  

We started this out trying to capture a bit of a NIN'ish type of vibe with the bass being the central focus driving the track.  We all jumped around to new positions on this one...and pushed boundaries.  

I think that is the musical binding that ties The Welcome Parade together.  It is that no one says I am this and only this.  

I hope when you listen to this you can feel that friendship and inclusiveness.  The subject matter on this track is dark and perhaps difficult to see the unity behind the scenes.  At least in part that is always why I put in some notes.

Submarine has a very un-traditional mid section bridge where I essentially just shout from the top of a mountain top with a growling guitar and a bit of heart.   The change in song style and tempo at this point dis-orient because I felt like walking outside the expected lines of a traditional ABABCB song arrangement. The slow burn build has impact because it smolders, swells, intensifies and then goes boom; literally. In the end, why is the middle so behind?  I just do not know.
