However, not all of us can catch them, to be honest, most of us can't.
They usually take lots of effort. To make something good, and nice, and meaningful...
And few people who are ambitious can see them, even fewer try to reach them.
My dreams lie down on an optimistic chaotic grassland. It is both happy, hopeful, sweet, but ironically painful, impossible to reach, and scary place to be in. It is just, such an abstract portrayal that impossible to describe. However, this little song can just do that.
Can you feel the tension? Can you feel the hope? Can you feel the hypocritical nature of me?

The Story

Nowadays, I feel a bitter sadness as I remember my old memories. I'm in a grayish-blue mood as I think of a solution to something that happened months ago. As deeper I think, as profound I sink. The worst thing about these scars is, I am glad I have them. The irony lurks from the windows of cafe shop that I am in. I wouldn't change anything even If I could, I wouldn't dodge the bullets. Every day is haunting me and there is no escape. I woke up in the horror of this repeating terror...

But in the end, I did everything I could, and II think I am okay. I could be having a bitter happiness as where I'm right now but I'm glad everything turned out ok.

It's just that, I miss my best friend, and I was expecting more understanding from her. Because of this, as the shadow of the past falls, I can feel the frost.

I missed the Corona times. Not the virus of course!

Those were the carefree days, schools were closed. I was learning Lmms and everything was hard to do. Even simple automation was a big accomplishment. I didn't know how to use the effects, terms...

This piece (and its cover, which is my old pp) is a relic from those days. C418 was my idol, so I was trying to create like him: lots of pieces, and unquestionable originality. I wanted to post it anyway despite its lack of mixing. I completed the missing parts and didn't alter the feeling of it.

Impressionalist Breakcore

I had a shitty sophomore year at Bilkent University. Everything was too much, and I kinda hate it all. This piece is about exhaustion, tiredness, hopelessness, anger, drowning, and acceptance. I didn’t have any other option other than keep moving forward.

This piece describes the tiresome necessity of staying the whole night awake. The piece starts in the ambience of a small faculty study room called 336. I recorded my laptop's noise and room ambience at 1 am. In the end, you can hear the birds chirping from a studio room in Radio Bilkent. I recorded those sounds at 11 am.

It is not an "Exist" in depression tier list, but this also contains very, very, VERY strong feelings. But this is more of a "I just need to get going, everything will be fine" type of depression.

--- What is Impressionist Breakcore? ---

I know, the piece is confusing, but It is exactly where I want it to be. I was studying impressionist composers such as Debussy and Ravel, and I really loved listening to them. At some point, I just had to write an impressionist piece, just to learn how they opposed tradition and used new harmonies, scales, sonorities etc. However, in the process,  didn't want to "just make another piano piece clone". I wanted to oppose the system, academia and tradition, just like the impressionists. I wanted to write something if they were living in the current era, 21st century.

This led to the creation of a hybrid impressionist breakcore piece. I chose breakcore because it is in my opinion most amateur-spirited electronic genre ever created. It is free, experimental, and overall enjoyable to listen. It is also a very anti-academic genre that doesn't have a single drop of seriousness. Of course, there is an incentive to merge those two impossibly distant genres. I very much enjoyed :)

FunFact: I made this song for a short film, and I needed to finish it in 2 days, during my finals. So I rushed and used my 4000 hours of Reaper skills. It sounds not that bad imo.

Also, my interest in and knowledge of techno and bass house increased during my DJ courses this semester. Thanks for everything Mert hoca o7

Greatness comes with a heavy cost...
Again and again, I am paying the price to have a glimpse.
Sometimes I hate myself, sometimes I wave my pride.
Most of the time, I can't see the "great" thing, at anything.
I sank, let all go. I disintegrate, fail altogether.
I thrive, have burnout, and am seen as a disaster.
It's sad to see that it's all in my mind, and nobody actually cares.
But everyone judges the reason why I should be praised.

It is said that in the end, I didn't change; I can't change.
As I realize how pointless all the change is, just to become someone else,
I just lose the passion, I just can't answer who I am.
But it is not about that someone either, I wanted it for myself.
Hurt myself just to escape from pain. That's the irony.

Whatever I do, whoever I become,
Inside of me always craves for that greatness,
To achieve such goals, he needs to suffer.
Killing that just makes me miserable.
To not reach my dreams, not be the one I want to be.
Because of that, I am tired of harming myself.
I am tired of fixing myself.
I am tired of everything.

Essentially a remake of my previous piece, The Lost.
The Lost was about, the lost. It overflows with sadness and acceptance.
However, this is not about the temporary moments and individuals. This is about the curse of ambition. Trying to be the number one, searching the greatness, making ultimate sacrifices, hurting people and myself.
I was always a perfectionist. Sometimes, I try to take a pacifist approach, living life for moments, friends, fun and so on. However, I become a shell of myself. If I give up all my ambition, I just turn into a husk of a distant memory...

I am searching for a way to achieve perfection without damaging any more people, or myself.

Bio: I was born in Istanbul in 2004. Started music education with piano at the age of 7, went to Eskişehir Conservatory for piano education in middle and high school, and started composition studies at Bilkent University in 2022. 

The composition journey began with constant improvisations on the piano. I composed my first finished piece during the COVID-19 lockdown, and since then, I have continued to write. Throughout my journey, I have experimented with various music genres, styles, and disciplines, and I continue to do so.
