The average American felt vaguely discontent

Strange colors filled the air
But, no one seemed to care
Scented drinks were passed around
Then everything came crashing down

Gnarled trees whispered an ancient song
A song I’ve known all along
A wave of light lifted me high
Then dropped me as I liquefied

Robotic drones kill from the skies
It’s easy to kill when you can’t see their eyes
I don’t know how to stop this madness

A long cool twilight 
passed like a tunnel over my head
Strange creatures followed me
