"Love Somebody" is the first single off The OK Corral's sophomore album, Stay ______.   “Love Somebody” was the last song written for the record, and by far the most accessible. On the exterior, it may sound like a fun summer love song (think Saves the Day/Weezer). However, lyrics explore the restlessness and doubt associated with a growing relationship. Musically, the song is fairly straight-forward, with bouncing guitar riffs, creative vocal runs, and varied drum fills adding layers of complexity.

It’s been nine years since the release of The OK Corral’s first album, Something American.  “It’s everyone’s fault, and it’s no one’s fault” says songwriter Brett Nickley, when referencing the hiatus. “But the new album is better off for it.” The band’s sophomore album, Stay _____. is a culmination of each member’s personal, musical, and creative growth over the past decade.  It emulates the artists they love, from Manchester Orchestra to The Killers. 
 
Writing for the new album began during the initial leg of shows in support of Something American in 2011. New songs quickly found their way onto set lists, and were constantly evolving on stage.  With over a dozen new ideas, the band soon felt the need to get back in the studio.  Drums would be tracked in studio, while the rest of was done across several living rooms and basements in Northern Virginia from 2012 to 2018.

The OK Corral have never been afraid to wear their influences on their sleeves, and Stay_____. is no exception. The band cites Bright Eyes and Brand New for inspiring much of the album’s dynamic ebb and flow.  Portugal. The Man and Silversun Pickups spur their affinity for noisy, delay-soaked guitars, while The Gaslight Anthem and The Hold Steady lend the Everytown, USA identity of much of the writing. The pop sensibilities of Weezer and Saves The Day show in some of the more upbeat tracks, and the large, anthemic choruses pay homage to the likes of Kings of Leon and Arcade Fire.
