Nachtdigital Mint marks the last edition of Nachtdigital Festival: After more than two decades it is time for a change. Over the course of the past eight years, Nachtdigital has given birth to a dozen releases in various formats. "Nachtdigital Mint" is the final statement - a return to the roots, in its most accomplished form.

Starting with a single 10inch release in 2011, the Nachtdigital label has evolved both musically and visually. 2017 saw the release of the first double LP with gatefold cover - a format that since has become the preferred mode of operation. For the last two years, Nachtdigital has focussed primarily on commissioned works, with thematically curated releases. The "Nachtdigital Mint" compilation marks the return to the original idea of the label: To compile tracks from artists of this year’s festival program, without much fuzz about conceptual works. The result is refreshingly energetic and gives a glimpse into the heterogeneous sound of the festival itself: Combining young talents with accomplished producers, raw sounds with dreamy delicacies. Side D was compiled in collaboration with Prague’s club institution Ankali - a fitting closing statement, as collaborations are what Nachtdigital has always been about.

Following Locks On Our Doors, Not On Our Hearts, a long form confessional for Blackest Ever Black, M. Quake returns to redirect relationship lament into alternate, shifting worlds for 'Fall in Love With Yourself' via Purely Physical.

Intentionally released on Valentines Day, we are treated first to an off the cuff philosophy on “how to love”. Side A uses a sample from an interview with Eartha Kitt, her voice sitting atop Quake’s stripped back, sticks ‘n’ stones production style which utilises background noise elements in the interview - birds chirping, dogs barking - with Eartha’s powerful attitude emphasised by an almost gospel-like dubbed out organ.

Side B, in classic instrumental dub style, acts almost as a demonstration or exhibition of this new found self love, giving us the fully fleshed out version that unveils all the sounds present in the A side and plays to all of the producer's strengths. What’s left of the vocal is echoed to smithereens, the sub bass line and resonant chords all harmoniously combining to create a surreal, Disneyland-like utopian setting.

Having previously held court in several secret circles including F ingers, Th Duo, Tarcar and - possibly - Kallista Kult, Quake’s influences are audible and there for the taking. With 'Fall in Love With Yourself' and its BEB predecessor, a significant solo narrative is beginning to take shape, shimmying out of the dark.

The clouds passed by slowly on a dreamy summer afternoon, the leaves began to flutter in the trees as the wind picked up. Down by the canal, people watched the water roll on down the stream towards the central river. The canal was like the veins of the city, passing life between the cells of the system which was swarmed and swamped by people in towerblocks and on high streets. This place was special, it was an escape from the struggle and strife of city living. A chance for something new...

Cong Burn is a record label perhaps underestimated, it has been an outlet for intricate experimentation and has been responsible for the release of music by the likes of Lanark Artefax, BFTT, Howes, Chekov and more.
