‘Loose Connection’ is another characteristically cosmic number from the Leeds-based artist, made exclusively for the club, with elements of breaks/broken techno accompanying an unmistakably pulsing bass line.

Along with ‘Machine’ by Acidfinky, ‘Loose Connection’ is now available to download on our Bandcamp, with the full vinyl release expected in early 2023.

Since his last outing on Control Freak with the sold-out Bunzunkunzun EP, Syz has built a reputation as one of the UKs most distinctive club producers, weaving playful, percussive techno with soundsystem-driven bass music.

Much of this acclaim started with 2020’s Mindforms - a self-released mini-LP which saw the young producer step away from the dancefloor to explore an expansive sonic world, ‘balancing the tranquility of the ecological world with the immediacy of the digital one’.

The original  release was accompanied by a highly limited run of just 10 dubplates. Deeming this 6-tracker too good not to receive a proper pressing, Control Freak are proud to present the first ever complete vinyl run for Mindforms.

Alongside the record, Syz & Control Freak have curated Clubforms, a collection of remixes from some of our favourite producers, each bringing the original release firmly onto the dancefloor with their own production flourishes.

Info: I am happy to present our first tape release by The Jaffa Kid as part of the brand new Digital Artefacts series.

The series is an ode to the sound of the 90s, from Electro, IDM and Jungle to further different experimental stuff and sounds. The choice of tape as format seemed fitting for the aesthetic of the series.

The first EP comes from UK based The Jaffa Kid (previously on 030303, Dischi Nottetempo, Gated Recordings and more) and is a solid mixture of Electro, Techno and beyond.

They moved slowly across the desert sand, leaving a trail in their wake. The stars flickered up above against a deep coal sky, wispy and wondrous in the midst of the night. It might as well be night for the sun had never reached these parts, up on a distant planet far away from everything they’d ever known.

They’d been here for one week, amidst a barren landscape on the red ash. Perhaps this would one day become home but for now it felt as if everything was fighting against them in a bid to make them leave. Be it the cold wind of the morning or the raucous heat of the afternoon.

This was a wild world of a place.

At the time I was living in a studio flat, I remember making think on a big circle shaped sofa, that was very comfortable. During the day, I saw someone wearing a two piece pink suit, which I have never seen before, so I titled the Ableton project "Pink Suit". I normal label my projects of something I done that day or something memorable from the day.

Paranoid London are on the brink of releasing their second album, ‘PL’, which finds duo Quinn Whalley and Gerardo Delgado delving into the dark, analogue territory they explored on their 2015 self-titled debut. ‘PL’ boasts a series of guests including queer scene darling Josh Caffe (on the already-released ‘Vi-Vi (Vicious Games)‘, Alan Vega from Suicide, A Certain Ratio’s Simon Topping, Arthur Baker, Warmduscher frontman Mutado Pintado as well as Bubbles Bubblesynski, the trans activist and DJ who was murdered in 2017. ‘Cult Hero (Do You Wanna Touch Me)’ – which we’re premiering below, takes a squiggly, acid-meets-EBM beat with post-punk frontman Simon Topping’s vocal driving the track forward. He clambered towards the ancient misshapen trunk and settled at the tree’s roots, under the thick canopy of dark green leaves that freed him from the sun’s unforgiving heat. Leaning back against the tree, he closed his eyes, exhaling a sigh of relief as he felt a gentle breeze wash over him. When he opened his eyes, he noticed a large green lizard with luminescent green scales looking directly at him. For more than just a moment, they stared each other down before the lizard quickly zipped away out of sight. Confused by this encounter, he began to process what had just happened, and then all of a sudden he felt the urge to eat a small insect.

Here the likes of reptiles and molluscs come together, as Amsterdam-based label Kalahari Oyster Cult presents Reptant’s Phasic Reflex 12”. The Australian musician, who also produces under the guise of Lou Karsh, has affirmed his skills with several recent releases on various imprints, including Craigie Knowes, Salt Mines and Planet Euphorique, but this marks his first EP with the Dutch label. This particular track, ‘A Realist's Realistic Reality’, is a sequence of meticulously organised and crafted synths and percussion, that perfectly displays Reptant’s hi-octane style that can cut right through any dancefloor.
