Not many people knew about the wonders of this underground party. It was, and always had been, a word of mouth situation, restricted to those who were non-judgmental and willing to let go of their inhibitions. This is the way it would always be: it ensured the space to be safe, sacred and untouched, and the partygoers to be faces who'd soon become friends and not remain strangers. 

For their next release, a digital two-tracker titled The Leisure Hive, NYC's Throne Of Blood link up three Philadelphian artists: Optimo and Les disques de la mort signees Zillas On Acid and Permanent Vacation and Mister Saturday Night alumni Alex Burkat. The three artists first met at Dave P's Making Time parties where the former duo have been resident DJs for years. It's this night that inspired the idea behind this new release: two "psychedelic dance floor jams" that are custom-made to soundtrack the frivolities at open-minded soirees like Making Time.

The sixth instalment of Sinchi Music's Altered States series features an array of fresh and exciting talent from around the world. As ever, it is a not-for-profit release with the income donated to the Sinchi Foundation in support of Indigenous peoples worldwide. The original artwork comes from Aboriginal artist Wayne Quilliam.

Ilmo is a project from a Sinchi Collective co-founder whose previous single ‘Abra Cadabra’ gained attention from the likes of Jennifer Cardini and Richard Sen. 'Lungbird' opens in dystopian electro fashion with ghoulish synths sounding like paranoid vocals over a booming baseline and icy 808s.

Terra de Ovnis is the new project from Jesus Cuevas. From his studio in the mythical land of Tepoztlan, he brings Latin flair and merges electronic indie sounds with the energy of one of the most powerful places on earth. His 'Spirit Machine' is a swampy mix of sludgy electronics, whirring machines, tripped out vocals and punchy drum programming that will have fists pumping.

Hard Fist and Duro associate A-Tweed is an Italian who blends acid, weird downbeats, dark electronics, Afrofuturism and EBM, here he joins forces with fellow countryman, Raibano Records boss Alberto Melloni. The sublime 'Veda Kids' is a fleshy, rubbery techno-disco pumper with echoing vocal chants and modulated synths panning about the mix.

Next up is Molsy, an upcoming star with recent credits on Suprematic Sounds, Wired and Exx Underground. 'So Better' is a standout track with raw analogue drums and melancholic chords which tug at the heart as you march to the playful disco beat.

DeepMe, brings a fresh wave of influences on her collaboration with Miniailov. Their 'Terra Stellae' is a crisp, slapping cosmic cut with stiff arps, chattery claps and ethereal soundscape.

Rounding off the release is Frankfurt born, but now Berlin-based Max Buchalik, who has been part of the German electronic music scene for over 15 years. His 'Endurance' is a spangled track with big, crashing hits and delicate retro-future melodies that take you up amongst the stars on a wave of synth magic.

This is another grand storytelling compilation that takes us on a global musical trip.

B1980 is respected producer and musician Bert Libeert and is best known as the drummer of electro-rock band GOOSE. This project sees him focus on his love of EBM and techno with influences taken from new beat and Belgian legends like Front242. His aim is to bring the spontaneity of live music back to clubs, armed with just two synths and two drum machines. Says the artist, "music is not all about technique or knowledge, it’s about expressing your personality and style." He sure backs that up here.
Our choice here falls on 'Modeling Minds'which  slows things down to a predatory and heavyweight crawl, with spangled synth patterns and supersized hi hats all conveying an epic sense of battle to come.

Quiet Confidence

Things became clearer under the veil of darkness; how ironic that in the stark light of day, nothing but confusion and uncertainty ruled her mind. Though the answers were staring her right in the face, she couldn't see them, there was too many distractions and external influences that obstructed her vision. But when night took hold, and the sweet sound of silence prevailed, the solutions were finally plain to see.. 

For the next release on Portland's Bed of Roses, they welcome MagicPink - a member of the label collective - for her debut EP, Night Visions. A powerful, stirring release in its entirety, the four original tracks journey through twinkling, icy synths, fuzzy, driving EBM and skittering blends of trance and industrial. On the flip a few other producers get their hands on the music; French post-punk band Blind Delon take on the title track, while label mate and boss, Cole Baby and Break Mode, respectively, also add their own personal touch to two of the other cuts.

Night Visions

We all piled in, five of us crammed into one of the tub-shaped cars, giddy and giggling. There was a brief commotion as we argued over who was going to sit next to who, but soon we were off and the laughter continued, slightly more hysterical now. A surly teenager working on the ride immediately gravitated to our car and gave it a spin, sending it lurching in the opposite direction that the undulating ride was travelling. Some cheesy old-rave banger was playing over the soundsystem, Rozalla maybe, it was hard to tell. "Scream if you want to go faster!" Jonny shouted above the din, so of course we did. And the kid with the furry upper lip and biro tattoos duly obliged, the car rotating into oblivion until I was so dizzy I felt sick.

Ransom Note fave Timothy Clerkin has remixed Queen, the latest single from the feminist pop duo Seagoth, which was released on Bytes on June 10. The Manchester-based producer, DJ and boss of Insult to Injury Records has taken Queen on a trip to the free party scene of 1992, with echoes of the Prodigy and old-school rave anthems in the thunderous breakbeats and day-glo melodies.

The glittering glam-rock original was written and produced by 20-year-old Georgia Ochoa (guitarist/lead vocals) in her bedroom at home in Cheshire. Exhausted by the inequality of the sexes, but also fuelled to instigate change, Ochoa wrote this song to highlight the effects of modern day misogyny.

The genre re-defining chameleons of Hard Ton are back on Schrödinger’s Box with their own brand of style splitting acid house disco. Bigger is Better, a double EP album, has all the depravity and drama you would expect from these disruptors. “Be Somebody” is a proud call to a dirty beat; chin up, chest out and let the claps and hi-hats fly. Flanger effect units are pushed to the max in “Trip To Your Mind”, an acid dripping, falsetto bending banger. Rhythms collide and sweat hits the floor in the body jacking “You Want Me” before new age rave mantra of “Transcend Your Body” with its steepling synth stabs and 303 barbs. The close, “Girls and Boys,” is inspired by a Brit Pop hit. Beefed-up, muscled-up, this club ready weapon will bring the house down.

Dutch pioneer Sp@sms returns to U-TRAX with ‘From A 20th Century Box’ LP, backed with remixes from Bloody Mary and Cosmic Force
On ‘From the 20th Century Box’ Arno Peeters, aka Sp@sms, returns to U-Trax with his debut full-length album. Showcasing years of sonic exploration stemming from his time in various groups including Random XS and Voltage Control amongst others, the LP also draws from his experience studying and teaching music at the Centre for Electronic Music as well as his work in project-based sound design.

Filled to the brim with pulsating arpeggios, crunchy drums and dark, moody atmospheres, the LP is marked by a retro yet timeless feel. Inbetween its snaking, squelchy synth lines and old school electro grooves Sp@sms masterfully incorporates playful textures and elements from found recordings and unused projects, resulting in a vastly versatile and experimental album fusing all things techno, acid and EBM.

An expert lesson in sound design and composition taught by one of the Netherlands’ most trusted and experienced artists, the LP also contains remixes from Dame Music’s Bloody Mary and Utrecht electro stalwart Cosmic Force and arrives via Vinyl, CD, Digital, and Cassette mediums.

Dynoman’s new electro, club and bass infused breaks E.P., titled AGILITY, is made up of 4 infectious, distinct tracks which will get any club room bumping and lost in the sound.

Brooklyn, NY - Written, recorded and mixed by Dynoman in Brooklyn, New York, AGILITY E.P. is an exciting new club focused release comprising of 4 tracks each with their own distinct character influenced by his musings in the club. The 4 track E.P. was mastered by Brooklyn based Swaya and the album art was created by Karachi based Samya Arif. Each of the tracks have their own vibe and play into the club/breaks genre. On Jaldi, Dynoman returns to his Pakistani roots, deconstructing tabla and programming a beautifully crafted Santoor melody, juxtaposing those traditional so unds against heavy sub basslines and an infectious club beat. On Like Lightning and Celerity, Dynoman takes a more electro focused approach and Shadow Step a more club focused one, paying tribute to the surroundings he has been living and operating in for the last 5 years as a DJ, producer.
