Since the birth of Hard Fist project in 2016, Cornelius Doctor has been advocating for an uninhibited approach of dance music, opening club music to the sound of the world, willing to bring back the essence of dancing together, ritually, staying outside the dance music dogma.

Standing at the convergence of cosmic, discoid and wavy sounds, using percussion, dark synths, psyche voices, breaks and bells as some of the best weapons.

An important part of the mysterious Ombra INTL collective, also one of our favorite labels, Curses has become one of the most active producers of the moment, having releases and remixes in labels, such as Bordello A Parigi, Throne of Blood, Snap Crackle & Pop, Wrong Era, La Belle Records or Play Pal Music, where we had the pleasure of releasing a killer remix from him, included on Monoblok & PSLKTR Ep this past winter and a new original coming up on our 5th Anniversary Compilation out feb 19t.

We had the pleasure of having him as guest on our 5th Anniversary Night at Cafe Berlin Club (Madrid), for which occasion he recorded a special mix, we now share with you all.

What a year it has been for Curses, in October of last year he released his debut album on Dischi Autunno, and has since released on Wrong Era and Tusk Wax. 

Alongside releasing a growing number of powerful productions, Curses is also playing week in week out as both a DJ and as a live act, weaving between darker disco, EBM and post punk influenced tracks. 

His distinctly dark sound can be heard throughout this mix. With his own productions scattered throughout, we are given a look into what you can expect from a party with Curses.

Baptiste Pinsard AKA Tushen Raï is one of the minds behind Lyon-based label Hard Fist Records. Alongside friend and frequent collaborator Cornelius Doctor he shares his love of far reaching sounds, influenced by his travels around the world and his passion for digging for oddities. Since launching in 2017 Hard Fist have welcomed the likes of Pletnev, Mr TC and our own Ransom Note family member Bawrut, as well as being a platform for both his own and Cornelius Doctor's global tinged productions.

We invited him to give us a taste of what he's all about; strap in for an hour of chugging percussive rhythms and Middle-Eastern influenced electronics...

Tushen Raï: The 'Shine A Light On' Mix

High and low self-esteem at first glance seem to be completely different problems, but in reality these are two sides of the same fake coin. Because it doesn’t matter if you consider yourself to be better than the whole world or worse than the whole world, the meaning in both cases is the same: you imagine yourself special, delimited from everyone else. A person who is convinced that he deserves special treatment because of his steepness is not very different from a person who is convinced that he deserves special treatment because of his insignificance. Both are daffodils. Both consider themselves special. Both are convinced that the world must make an exception and put their values ​​and feelings above the values ​​and feelings of everyone else. Narcissus throws back and forth from a sense of superiority to a sense of his deprivation. They are either adored by all, or hated by all. They either hurt everything, or a complete ass.
