http://soundcloud.com/Spinforth started his weekly* Scour for the http://soundcloud.com/Ghettofunk website back in January 2011, assisted by fellow Hong Kong Ping Ponger's Morphosis and Fat Harry. His quest was to seek out the choicest cuts from the freshest, often unheard of, producers ploughing their trade on SoundCloud. The Scour soon blossomed into a bit of a phenomenon, unearthing some of the finest producers to not yet have their tracks out in the DJ scene!

With incredible numbers of people checking out the weekly* posts, it seemed a logical next step to set up a brand new digital label, showcasing, and officially releasing, the creamiest of the crop of The Scour. Boom! http://soundcloud.com/scourrecords was born!

Expect all Scour traditions to be upheld throughout the initial releases; selection process, BPM order, making up of new words, a touch of nepotism from time to time, it's all here. The first first release is an eight tracker - It was only mean't to be five - see what we mean about upholding all Scour traditions :)

foundation steppas are a 7-piece roots rock reggae band from guelph, ontario, canada. the band includes mike barrett (vocals/guitar), sean marriott (drums), dave jones (bass), todd britton (keys), michael francis (saxophone) and kim regimbal (horns), johnny varcoe (guitar) and lion humble (keys).
the band’s influences include some of reggae’s early recording artists like gregory isaacs, don carlos, sugar minott, and some more contemporary artists like long beach dub allstars, rootz underground, and easy star all-stars.

the band started out in guelph’s music scene. the forming members mike barrett and sean marriott teamed up with local reggae host dj nicky dread of “the crooked beat” cfru 93.3 fm to host of a monthly recurring reggae event called guelph reggae massive bringing regular reggae shows to the royal city which is situated between the tri-cities of toronto, kitchener/waterloo and hamilton.

foundation steppas have performed on numerous stages across ontario. they have also opened for some of the largest names in reggae music in canada including the human rights featuring bernie pitters (formerly of toots and the maytals), errol blackwood and ray ruddock (formerly of messenjah), isax injah (richie spice, gregory isaacs, the heptones), house of david gang, michael st george, and many others.
