Spectrumshift - Amazonia (ABE Remix)

We released a 15 minute mix for Terminal Radio last year, and this was one of the tracks included. This track is one of two remix version's of Shaun's smooth and mellow "And when the rain comes". Its a stripped back melodic dance in the rain :)

Spectrumshift - When The Rain Comes (ABE TRMix Part 1)

Back using my favourite synth. 
Tonight I added one instance of Memorymoon ME80 v2.1 as a lead sound. 
The ME80 track was the first take so tonight I have spent more time recording the track than performing it!
Previously I added the (sample Instrument) Bass guitar, electric piano and soft synth layers (old version). 
The backing track (Some great pads and percussion) is "Collab Me" from Wiesolator (a hardware synth guy).  It will be interesting to hear what others do with it.
I have called the finished track City Nights.

VanAfrica (Vangelis cover)

This track evolved from a first patch created on Arturia's CS80V, (the main sequence). From there I filled it out with the signature VP330 strings and choirs and some further CS80 horn calls and it took on a bit of "Blade Runner" feel.
I do love this Vangelis sound palette! As a fan its a joy to get lost in :)

Hades

Another track I made for moving image. This was for an animation based on the Greek myth of Theseus & the Minotaur. I wanted to try and capture that intense symphonic sound of Vangelis, the drama and the action.

Labrynth

In terms of capturing a Vangelis sound, I'm really happy with this one. Again as a fan of this sound it was a joy to make, and its nice to listen to these textures, and feel the mood. Very definitely "Blade Runner" inspired, again following a jazzy vibe like "Blade Runner" blues.
The Syd Mead artwork also evokes that rich textured world that Ridley Scott so successfully created.

Sidewalk Diner

Around 1985 Vangelis released the album Soil Festivities, which alongside Blade Runner probably ranks as one of my all time favourite Vangelis albums. I think this particular sound palette is what I wanted to capture with this track. An evolving symphonic piece that reflects the movements of nature.

Endless Branches

Another "Blade Runner" inspired piece. 
Bradbury building, dark, dank, puddles, roving spotlights, Roy Batty emerging from lift...

Search Lights

Another track created specifically for the "Extrospection" group. This was for October 2014. 
The track is a moody take on the picture, uses a sampled Guitar instrument playing notes in the "Sakura" scale to give that eastern connotation. Layers of VP330 strings and CS80 horns provide some signature Vangelis type textures.

Non sequenced sections performed on Roland MIDI keyboard with expression pedal, breath controller for aftertouch function and ribbon controllers.

Rise Of The Replicants (ME80 Lead and FX)

I started experimenting in FM8 to re-acquaint myself with FM synthesis techniques. Managed to develop some interesting and moody ring mod electronic atonal sounds, and from there this track evolved. The addition of the electronic piano stabs and the moody organ pads suggested this kind of contemplative feeling, reminding me of some scenes from Deckard’s apartment in “Blade Runner”. Some signature Vangelis sounds round off that feel 

Apartment 9732

Another atmospheric piece mainly concerned with tension and mood. Built this up in a few passes evolving the dark intro soundscapes into something that dissipates the tension into a more melancholic mood.

Shiraz

Another Vangelis type track I produced around the same time as "Hades", (not quite so dramatic though!). I had uploaded this under my SA Fred moniker previously.
Its one of those I have mixed feelings for, I never really felt this was finished, and unlikely to revisit. But I think it holds together mostly, I like the sounds and the feel, even if it needs a little more meat on its bones :)

Field Of Innocence

A track very much inspired by Vangelis and in particular his soundtrack to the Film Bladerunner. This was produced to accompany a CG short film many years back, which in itself was intended to be a Blade Runner homage. Sadly however that didn't come to pass.
Listen to this and think of Spinners flying through endless smog, winding between the refinery towers and over-sized apartment blocks. Or maybe Roy Batty wandering through dank wide corridors, random searchlights silhouetting him...
