My 8-Bit Weekly Challenge Pieces

A collection of all pieces, both arrangements and originals, that were made for the 8-Bit Music Theory Discord's Weekly Challenges. The Weeklies are a set of challenges to either arrange or compose a piece to a prompt within a week, for the chance to get the prestegious prize of the "A Winner is You!" Rank, as well as access to the coveted #pinata channel but shh! I didn't tell you that ;). Also, I threw in some covers of weekly tracks and alt versions, as I feel it's appropriate, though that may change in the future.

Dire Dire Docks (Super Mario 64): Dance Remix

Another Weekly Challenge entry, this one just being arranging a song that is nostalgic to us, so I chose Rocket Jump Waltz.  This is mostly designed to be good for some live performances, so stay tuned to see if that's a thing.

This is a song that I had lying around but hadn't gotten around to updating to a better soundfont until recently. Thought you guys would enjoy!

Somber Contemplation

This is an arrangement of the tune that has become the anthem of flash games and an ode to the heyday of Newgrounds, so I decided to turn it into a pep band chart. It was also perhaps my fastest arrangement idea to reality I've ever had, which is a big accomplishment for me.

Glorious Morning Pep Band

A little while ago I participated in a collaboration with five other composers to see what styles were popular on a Q&A site. I won't upload the results here, as some are ... let's just say "different", but I followed that up with a challenge - take at least one melodic idea from each composer and reimagine it in your own style. This was the piece I came up with.

Notes from Distant Composers

This was my attempt to replicate my speed with Arbor Glade, and although I haven't done so, I feel this track is more complete because I took my time. Enjoy!

In Far Away Lands

This is an arrangement I've been working on for nigh 3 years now, slowly molding it to its current form. Enjoy!

R/S/E End Credits

Revelry was originally intended to be a trio between a violin, viola, and cello, and significantly shorter than it's already small length. Then, I heard of a competition in which the grand prize get's its piece played by an orchestra if it's at least two minutes long and uses standard instrumentation. So for no particular reason, This piece has been extended to be just over two minutes and uses all of the standard instrumentation of an orchestra. you know, just for fun. definitely.

This is a Symphonic Orchestration of the first 19 bars of Chopin’s Nocturne in Bb minor, done for an orchestration challenge.

Entering the Desert Kingdom

This is an entry for the 8-bit weekly challenges, so titled because it was originally the third and final movement of a larger-scope work, but alas time constraints made it the one movement of the piece. Thankfully I have since learned to always write a self-contained movement into my plans for my inevitable failure.
