Continuous DJ Mix

A live recording form the first Back in the Day daytime party, in not so sunny LA, Stoke-on-Trent, and what a day it was!

I tried to capture some of the sounds of Ibiza in days gone by, and the intro is a nod to DJ Alfredo, the originator of the Balearic Beat, who often played the Pink Panther theme when mixing between different genres in the nightclubs of Ibiza in the 1980's and 90's.

Kalocain is a music producer and artist based in Frankfurt/Offenbach, Germany.

I met Joschi/KALOCAIN in 2013 through his father, the owner of the last secondhand books shop in my neighbourhood here in Basel, Switzerland. Joshi told me about tracks he’s producing so i visited him in the Black Forest mountains in southwest Germany in a little gingerbread house where he was tinkering around on his laptop making tracks. After getting him a set up of Korg USB controllers things started to pick up and he kept sending tracks over the years. A few weeks ago i asked Joshi for some new house tracks and he delivered, enjoy.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.

Digital creative type, gamer, music lover and occasional DJ. Currently living between Dubai & Seoul after setting sail from Sunderland in 2010.
