Happy to have them back on the show, space commanders @irregulardiscoworkers ! Since their founding in 2010, Irregular Disco Workers have established themselves as a prominent force in the nu-disco music genre. With a reputation for creating powerful and energetic dancefloor beats, the group has remixed popular tracks by artists such as Lindstrom, Dario Piana, Gazeebo, Cosmonauts, and Deep 88 The Units, among others. They have also collaborated with other musicians like Hard Ton, Fred Ventura, I-Robots, Plastique De Reve, Anthony Mansfield, Ummagma, and have worked with labels such as Feedelity, Nang, Bordello A Parigi, Opilec, Rare Wiri, Gazeebo, and Emerald & Doreen.

Irregular Disco Workers is known for their unique sound, which blends Disco, House, and Electronica in a high-energy dancefloor-friendly manner. They have performed at underground clubs across the world, including in cities like Verona, Firenze, Paris, Moscow, and more.

RJ Nu-Disco & Edits Mix October 2023

Hailing from Athlone in Ireland, Adrian has been DJing since 14 influenced by the Irish, UK, European and American House and Techno scene. Through good friends he discovered the Disco, Cosmic, Italo and Wave scene and party’s and DJ’s in The Hague and Berlin in the early 2000s and has been exploring the world of US 1970s and 80s disco, boogie, Hi-NRG and weird electronic music from across the world since.

With friends Amy and AJ they run Club Funk in Athlone and will take the night around the country in the next few months focusing on Disco in all its forms to recreate a little bit of paradise for dancers. Deeply inspired by all the great clubs and DJ’s from New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Berlin and Italy.

Excuse a couple of technical gremlins in the first bit of this show, happens to the best of us. Anyway, once I got the mic sorted I was up and running with a slightly rebranded show - now called Funkier Sounds. I was all over the place in my bit of the show, covering obscure disco, red hot edits, soulful house, weird funky bits, and since our guest mix this time was only 45 mins I used my extra 15 mins to simmer down with some divine slow jams. 

The guest mix was totally worth waiting for though, as I was lucky enough to bring you a mix from one of the best DJs in London at the moment, Sarahtonin. I’ve seen Sarah a couple of times warming things up expertly for Low Life, and I’ll be seeing her again on Saturday. Her mix was short but very sweet - starting with African vibes and working up through chugging, percussive rare disco and wonderful versions of slightly familiar tunes.
