Established in 2001 and originally envisaged as an artistically focused, online extension of such idealistic companies as 4AD, DGM, Factory, ECM and Mute, Burning Shed is an internet label and online shop that also runs dedicated artist shops and its own exclusive download store (which offers both mp3s and the high quality lossless format, FLAC).

Amongst the artists/companies the label works with are Porcupine Tree, Roger Eno, Opeth, film director Mike Figgis, No-Man, Peter Hammill, Nosound, Peaceville Records, Kscope, Hatfield & The North, OSI, Hugh Hopper and Medium Productions (ex-Japan members, Jansen, Barbieri & Karn).
