The Gardens of Babylon Guided Meditation & Meditative Sets

Since 2014, UK-based label, https://soundcloud.com/astralindustries have been responsible for some of the most enlightening and entertaining releases of recent years. Their output has helped otherwise forgotten or out of print music see the light of day, provided new takes on previous classics, whilst also pushing forward new music by some of the most well-respected artists within the ambient genre. 

Debuting with a release by dub-techno legend DeepChord in 2014, Astral Industries went on to release Wolfgang Voigt's live project, Rückverzauberung Live In London in 2015.  In 2016 they followed with a 1985 recording from disbanded dutch collective Chi - a timeless and undoubtedly classic record, whilst in the same year pitching Wolfgang and Deepchord together for the very first time, with reinterpretations of Peter Michael Hamel's classic, Colors of Time. By then, and combined with the continually brilliant artwork of Theo Ellsworth, we knew that Astral Industries was a label with staying-power, and a growing catalog of releases worth collecting - be it just for the framed artwork, or moreover, the complete music package. 

In 2017, we've seen an LP by Heavenly Music Corporation, aka Kim Cascone (likely encouraged by the recent re-release of his own label Silent Records), a third LP by The Chi Factory, and then just last month a beautiful album by Waveform Transmission (Rod Modell of DeepChord and Chris Troy), with a sublime follow-up album, a massive 20 years after their first. 

The man behind the Astral Industries machine, Ario is a proven expert at plucking obscure gems from the past, or ensuring that good music gets the platform and artistic presentation it deserves. In just a few years, Ario has curated a highly respected and anticipated label roster that demands attention, and has yet to disappoint. The music is always gentle, deep and often extremely vivid, be it deeply hypnotic ambient, or gentle murmurs of dub-techno. 

With curatorial talents like this, we're overjoyed to host an exclusive 2hr+ mix of Ario digging into his record collection, and interlocking a few select exclusive Astral Industries bits in-between. It's one hell-of-a hypnotic journey and just like the Astral Industries releases, deserved of your full undivided, escapist attention.

Southern Italian artist Simone Gatto, versatile dj and producer, is an eclectic, philosophy-graduated dance music activist who finds into music a dynamic source of emotions, reminds and energy. Since he was young, he has been exploring the charm of discovering and possessing records together with his father, a huge source of love and musical curiosity. Over the years, Simone has meant music as a possibility of communication, as a result of personal inspirations, as a bridge for getting in touch with people. Consequently, Simone’s music conception doesn’t stick only to the club environment or to pure home-listening: he considers music as a vital source for reaching interior wellness, as a way to communicate successfully, as a means to relieve or cure any wound whatsoever. 

Simone’s first contact with music was early in 2004 and since then, he’s been known for globe-trotting around the world to perform quality house and techno shows and managing his own label Out Electronic Recordings with his partner Andrea Santoro, releasing music from relevant house and techno artists like Juan Atkins, Terrence Dixon, The Analogue Cops, Christopher Rau, Efdemin, Orlando Voorn, Ed Davenport, Legowelt, Conforce and many others. Simone has performed in clubs like  Greissmuehle, about blank, Studio dB, OHM (Berlin), Output (NYC), Le Rouge Pigalle (Paris), Factory Club (Barcelona), Privilege (Ibiza), Dali (Cork - Ireland) Guendalina (Lecce) showcasing a singular aesthetics united with a solid selection criterion. As a producer, he released his own works mostly on OUT-ER plus a restricted number of realities like Orlando Voorn’s Night Vision, Singular Records by Marcelus, Subwax BCN’s sub label Vosnos, Shaded Exploration, Finale Sessions, What Ever Not and Raw Waxes from Haiku. In 2016 he released his debut album Detachment for the American label and event platform Sheik’n’Beik, consisting in a rising journey in between ambient, electronic and techno excursions. 

The variety of experiences and musical stimuli has brought Gatto to research the music potential together with the Italian University San Raffaele on an ever-increasing scientific and emotional scale. The results have led to the organization of several seminars and workshops, organized through Out Electronic Recordings and happening in between Italy, Germany and Holland, in which artists and music industry experts examine the relationship between sounds and emotions from diverse perspectives. The tangible findings and collected depositions has been published in late 2017 on a book, together with a two part album released on Out-ER and his sister label Pregnant Void, into which the personal path of the artist and the musical context he’s studied and lived, has been offered to the world of music enthusiasts. Simone’s world may be serene, deep and sensitive at the same time – but it’s always been an intense place to enjoy.

Based in Rotterdam Yør Kultura have implemented a trademark sound of their own over the past year by, smoothly combining extravagant synth-melodies with stripped down bass lines to form a symbiosis in raw track- and sound structure. With releases on Karakter Records or Multi Culti as well as Laut&Luise the trio's music has gained recognition and support from Switchdance over to Sascha Funke or Swiss legend Ripperton. Now, after playing two shows at ADE last week, the Rotterdamers deliver the latest art:cast and after ADE soundtrack. The 1h and 12 minute lasting mix depicts Yør Kultura's versatility as they switch from a dark and raw tone to rhythmically afroesque influenced tracks and over to synth-pad touched tunes. Simply said, Yør Kultura take you all over the place still remaining one vibe, one sound, their music.

(Story continued from Witchtape #32)
The little witch was shivering from excitement.  The thrill of participating in her very first witch coven was so overwhelming.  Barely 6 hours ago she had even never met with another witch in her whole life, and now she found herself in the loving presence of two elder witches.  And she was still grasping the deeper meaning of all these mysterious symbols the other witches had painted all over her body.
The young witch felt really energized while all these symbols made her body tingle from top to toe.  She noticed that the eldest witch had closed her eyes and seemed to be in some kind of trance.  Clearly, for her the symbols were even more powerful as she has been working with these for centuries.  She started chanting some ecstatic mystic songs.  These were so powerful that the little witch got goosebumps all over her body.  After a few minutes, the old witch sat down in lotus position and the other 2 witches did the same, sitting down on the soft moss, so close to each other that their knees touched.  Their hands found each other automatically, forming a circle.  The young witch felt a strong energy entering through her hands and spreading all over her body, while at the same time she felt this energy passing over to her sisters witch, and the symbols all over her body started to tickle more and more.  She even had the impression that these mystic signs started to glow.   When she opened her eyes, she was surprised to see that the symbols on her feet and legs were lighting up with a deep red glow.  To her amazement she saw the same thing happening with the other women too, yet every witch seemed to glow in a different shade of red.  The symbols on the middle-aged witch emitted a crimson glow, while the signs on the eldest witch’s legs were lighting up in a mysterious carmine red hue.  The elder witches looked at the girl’s legs and were visibly curious about her shade of red, which turned out to be a really bright scarlet glow.  The senior witches were visibly impressed by the young girl’s intense and pure energy.  After a few minutes, the red color started to fade simultaneously for all 3 witches.  Despite all this energy flowing through her body, the little witch felt very relaxed and not the least bit in a hurry to know what would come next.  At one point she noticed that all three witches were breathing at exactly the same rhythm, inhaling and exhaling simultaneously.  Then she felt how the area deep inside her pelvic region started to get very warm.  This irresistible energy gradually became stronger and stronger.  First deep inside, and after a few minutes she felt the symbols in this area glowing with increasing intensity.  It was a strong yet soothing energy which slowly spread to other parts of her body.  The three witches opened their eyes simultaneously and admired their colors.  Naturally, the elder witches were eager to know which new color the young witch had brought into the group and they were pleasantly surprised by the bright orange glow, as intense as lava flowing out from deep under the surface.  After a while the intensity of the colors diminished while the eldest witch sensed that the novice was getting tired.  They helped her lying down on the soft moss and covered her with a blanket, while the girl drifted away in a blissful sleep.  As the previous time that they had seen a young witch was already over a century ago, the elder witches couldn’t stop looking at the new recruit.  They felt so rejuvenated that they couldn’t stop giggling while they touched and played with her long brown hair, bringing back memories of days gone by (the hair of young witches is of an indescribable softness).  The young girl didn’t notice anything, as she drifted deeper and deeper into her own dreamworld, where nobody could follow her…

Today we are excited to share with you the live recording of the multi-dimensional music project End of Time at The Monastery Festival. 

End of Time is the trio of Trippin Jaguar, DJ and electronic music producer, Stacey Griffin, sound healer at Shift Meditation and Anthoni Logos, music producer and musician. With the use of ambisonics technology and an array of speakers, they create sonic escapes that form a three-dimensional field. The space becomes part of the composition and entices the listeners to experience a more complex sonic landscape formed by energetic and meditative sounds.

It was amazing what we experienced during The Monastery. So amazing that we book them for the next Thursday 22 of November to perform for us in an intimate setting at The Cosmic Jungle in Amsterdam.  We can't wait!
