Refracted (artist alias for Berlin-based spanish producer Alex Eme) first came to our attention at RKT through his incredibly solid and mature release on nAX_Acid´s Aconito label, the Quantum State EP, in late 2012. It brought to light a very distinctive take on a rolling, hypnotic and immersive strain of techno, which kept sufficient variation even amongst it´s constituent tracks to lend the EP and the artist an identity that made them stand out. The idea to work with him was born immediately at that point, even before we were aware of his vinyl release on Silent Season in early 2013, the "Along A Ghostly Trail" EP. When that one came out, it easily became one of our favorite deep techno releases in a very long time. You can, then, imagine the measure of anticipation and excitement even amongst our ourselves, in bringing this release out.

To that excitement, we might also add honor, because we know how much of himself Refracted had put into this release, the Convolution EP, the hard work, feeling and soul deposited in these 4 tracks. From the onset, it was partially his intention to show a more dancefloor-oriented side of his work, and a more incisive attitude, and we feel it´s perfectly achieved, while retaining the sense of beauty and mystery we already perceived in his previous works. These are 4 musical expressions of Convolution, both in sound and inner discovery and understanding. Convolution 1 is steady and assertive in it´s pace but gives away hints of questions to come with it´s filigree synths and windy pads, Convolution 2 is slow and patient but cautious, sounding like a restless an d sinister undercurrent bubbling under an apparently beautiful and soothing surface. By Convolution 3, the music seems to breathe heavily under the pressure of it´s own disquiet, the bass pulling and pushing against the beat and a synth pattern recoiling and lunging forward like a snake. Convolution 4 certainly feels like the climax of the whole process, a psychedelic exorcism set to the sound of shimmering synths, hallucinated pads and tribal, contrapuntal drumming. 

All 4 tracks certainly seem to reach deep inside the mind and the soul and express a cathartic process in which music and movement are essential parts. In many ways, them, RKT and Refracted are kindred spirits in their understanding of techno as more than a soundtrack to hedonism. These factors make up what we feel is an essential landmark release in our catalogue.

Hello and welcome back to The Poeticast!

We have an exclusive Live Set from the supremely talented Pirick Aydon for Episode 322, the set was Recorded Live at X Private Club in Madrid last month.

Born in 1986, it is from 2006 where he will be recognized.
He starts to share the stage with national and international DJs, such as Patrick M, Sander Kleinenberg, Harry Choo Choo Romero and Erick Morillo, among others...
After a while refocuses his musical career and begins attending events with underground DJs such as Marco Carola, Marc Houle, Troy Pierce and Rino Cerrone.

Attracted by the darkest sounds and always transmitting his enthusiasm and dedication, he introduces something of a groove in his repertoire.

After 2 years of experience in this new stage of sounds and after a lot of work he appears as one of the best DJs in Pereira, Colombia and in 2013 he is called to be part of one of the best summer festivals "Summerland Cartagena" in the warm up sharing the stage with the American Magda and one of the greatest artists in the world, the Canadian Richie Hawtin.

Later he shared with Stacey Pullen, Uto Karem, Ambivalent, Umek and Joseph Capriati.

Pirick Aydon creative Dj and composer (recognized for his tracks full of energy) becomes a creator of a new essence in electronic music.
Finally in 2018 this artist who feels that he needs tto go further moving to a new level, begins to interpret his music live on stages.

After spending a year working on this change, brings new equipment to play live, to have all the control of each sound and effect as required by each moment. He is the founder of Hart Tanzen Records.

As we roll onto  Episode 325 we are joined by ABSIS, a true pioneer of the Barcelona Electronic music scene. This show is an exclusive Live Recording of his Warmup set at LAUT CLUB Barca a few weeks ago!

ABSIS is a Barcelona-based DJ and producer known for his deep and introspective Techno music. He has been a regular in the Barcelona scene since the late 90s, performing at events like The Loft (Razzmatazz) and Sonar and Mostra. ABSIS explores the deeper side of electronic music, seamlessly transitioning between Ambient and Techno. He has released music on labels like Hivern Discs, Oslated, and Huinali Recordings.

 Ð G Ł $ consist of the brothers Liam and Ethan Douglas, they have been making serious waves on the Newcastle Techno scene in the past couple of years with solid Productions and DJ sets across the city. They have recently joined forces to bring a heavy duty duo of Hard Techno which is showcased in this mix for show 326 ! They both co-own the events brand PROPERSTOMPAZ.

Revelation Of Sound is pleased to present Arnaud Le Texier. Arnaud’s career dates back to 1990 when he began managing record shops and building what is now a huge archive of knowledge, taste and musical dedication to his name. His residency at Paris’s Queen and memorable sets around the world perfected Arnaud’s DJ skills, earning him his spot in the worldwide scene where he continues to this day to be a prominent figure. Since 2006 Arnaud lives in London where he is a regular DJ at Fabric since 10 years.
Arnaud runs Children Of Tomorrow since 2011, a label created by Emmanuel Ternois in 2008.

A timeless rawness is the main element of the label. Arnaud is releasing his own music and confirmed talents such as Terrence Dixon, Oscar Mulero, ROD, Jonas Kopp, Ryan Elliott, Samuli Kemppi, Zadig, Antigone, Tensal, Exium, Savas Pascalidis, Antonio De Angelis or Birth Of Frequency. Almost all the releases have been played or charted by artists such as Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, DVS1, Ben Sims, Rodhad, DJ Deep, Chris Liebing or Dave Clarke.
Together with his partners and colleagues Arnaud organises a series of Children Of Tomorrow events in London & abroad that focus on talent.
Since 1999 Arnaud produced different EP’s & remixes for Soma, Children of Tomorrow, Affin, Chronicle, Materia, Syncrophone, Bass Culture, Cocoon, Safari Electronique, just to name few. Since 2013 Arnaud is also producing with Antonio De Angelis under Detect Audio’s alias.

Arnaud is one of the true veterans of the London underground music scene. Having been associated or played at every major techno party over the last ten years, Arnaud has kept himself at the very forefront of the scene.

Co-founder of the fast-growing label Autonome Records, Oktobr has been carefully building his craft and reputation in Berlin for over 2 years now.

His sets are embodied with threatening grooves, racing rhythms and lively percussion. With a new EP on the way and big projects upcoming on his label including a first vinyl release, he is definitely not going to be quiet.

It's under the pseudonym of Breynnner that Ricardo Teixeira decided to intervene in the world of music through heavy doses of electronic sounds, a lot of technique, knowledge of notes and the best hearing filling. The young Portuguese born in '94, in the rural area of ​​Porto.
After enjoying electronic music more and more beyond the school, he became collector of publishing, records and djs at the beginning of this new decade. Through this passion for music genre, he felt the need to express it.

Having studied in detail the shed, he began to act in public in the same year officially, and since then begins to be common practice intending to see your name as a severe dependence shortly.
Always faithful to the origins and to its claims as Techno lover, the pseudonym appears as a tribute to a man, Melo Breiner, who died in prison in 1830 for following their liberal ideas, governor of Justices of Porto, too irreverent and sensasionalist for his time, seen today as a visionary who will have provided a contribution to the evolution of humanity.

A new project is underway, something Breynnner longs hold long and waiting to reveal in the near future.
