Under the starlit skies of Costa Rica, we came together for a night of sound, spirit, and deep connection. With the jungle as our witness, Darren Austin Hall’s ethereal vocals blended with Sariel Orenda’s soul-stirring guitar, and live electronic music performance, creating a mystical journey through sound.
Grateful for everyone who joined us in this sacred space. 🌊🎶

This was a live set where I played individual elements and loops from my tracks, rather than full arrangements. These types of performances allow for a more dynamic and alive journey, where the music continuously unfolds in fresh forms and new ways of storytelling. Under the open sky, on the banks of the Dnieper, surrounded by amazing people, music became a conduit between the inner world and the endless heavens.

Deep rhythms intertwine with atmospheric melodies, creating a space where time dissolves and the heart hears only the vibration of the moment. This is a farewell to summer that remains inside — like the warmth of sunset, like the reflection of stars in the river, like the memory of encounters that change you forever.

Presenting the twenty-first variation of The Space Between Guest Mix podcast series with J.Pool (@j_pool). My goal behind this series is to showcase artists and good friends I've been fortunate to connect with throughout my music journey, those who create and share from the deepest part of their soul and whose musical storytelling abilities bring us deep into the space of feeling.

I met @j_pool during the @momentomcollective artist residency at the beginning of March 2020 just before the Coronavirus outbreak where he was facilitating Ableton music production and recording classes through his project Inspirit Holistic Music Production Retreat (more info at www.inspirit.love/). We ended up "quarantined" together and traveled after the conclusion of the residency to Ometepe Island in Nicaragua.

We were fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of land, clean water, healthy food and amazing people while the rest of the world seemed to be on pause. We developed an amazing friendship, one of the few people I consider a true brother, while finding ourselves able to share and explore music with zero restriction - the only place in the world I'm aware of which was able to do so at the time.

Over the next few months we would play countless b2b sets, full moon parties and ecstatic dances during our time together on the island, celebrating our lives, freedoms and gratitude for the ability to do so and everyone around who was able to share these experiences with us.

This set is a special one, as it includes all originally-produced music from Joe and is a live set recording for an ecstatic dance facilitated high up on Volcan Concepcion overlooking Lake Nicaragua at sunset.

This rare set of 100% @j_pool originals opens up with one of his newest productions "Mi Alma" in which all vocals and melodies were actually recorded himself.

I trust the experience will shine through, and hope you can tap into the heart-felt creations Joe shares in this exclusive mix while getting a taste of what life has been like on Ometepe aka Infinity Island.

About this mix :
I would like to thank Cosmovision to make a set for them and for remaining patient with me over the last months whilst I have mostly been away from music. I always find making sets difficult as each one I want to be a unique experience and hopefully even a little different to anything else. I will always try to use loops and samples to emphasise this. I still consider myself a bit of a beginner as I don't really have a carved out objective, rather see what works and hopefully do the producers tracks justice. Hope you enjoy :)

Former Pro DJ and lifetime music lover. Used the SL1200's for years until finally moving into the 21st century with Traktor.
Always been a fan of live instruments and melodic rhythms, both electronic and natural. I play all kinds of house music, whether it be progressive, funky, latin, tech etc etc., but for the last couple of years I've been focussing on slowing things down (I think it comes with age!) and enjoying the music for what it is. Now I just play for fun, so no pressure and I just listen and appreciate.
Now getting into a little producing some nice edits and hope to bring out something totally original soon :)
