Humanity is at a crossroads, the time to act is now, the time for change is here.  It is time to Awake David! Together, we must rise to the occasion. Sometimes the problems in life seem insurmountable, like the mighty Goliath. But inside of all of us there is someone mighty, a David, ready to answer the call. The Resolvers are back with an inspiring new roots-rock reggae song, Awake David.

Awake David is the first new single from The Resolvers in a few years, and they have really doubled down on their strengths with this one. Standing out clearly are the soulful vocals of Sahara Smith and her brother O'Jay Smith, who deliver the message as smooth as silk. The children of Jamaican reggae legend Ernie Smith do their father proud with their vocal prowess and electrifying stage presence.

In addition to The Resolvers signature vocals, Awake David features the mighty Hamsa Horn Section to great effect.  Utilizing their full 3-piece horn section gives the track a lush and full soundscape, you not only hear the song, but you feel it too! The stellar drum and bass section is given a minute to shine with a breakdown and build-up that includes wailing guitar lines.  This is real reggae music.  This is roots-rock reggae music.

Awake David is the first in a series of new singles from The Resolvers in the coming months.  Mixed by Dean Fishbeck of 7 Hills Studios and Mastered by Lion and Fox Studios for that authentic reggae sound.  Stay tuned for the “Awake David Music Video” that will drop the week after release. The Resolvers define "Big Band Reggae" by combining classic Jamaican roots and lively New Orleans stylings. Siblings Ojay and Sahara Smith (son and daughter of international reggae artist Ernie Smith) exchange lead vocal roles with Israeli born bandleader and guitarist Ron Eisner while their rock solid rhythm and bombastic horn sections set the pace. Their show has been described as "explosive" and "must see," and the band has gained the reputation as a premier live reggae act. The Resolvers have shared the stage with The Wailers, Julian Marley, Stephen Marley, Damian Marley, Kymani Marley, Inner Circle, English Beat, Yellowman, Matisyahu, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Mishka along with many other world renowned acts in major international festivals such as Marley Fest, Jamaican Jazz & Blues Fest, Sun Fest, AURA Music & Arts Fest, Dub Fest and more.

Born in the depths of subterranean groove gatherings, Backbeat Underground is a Washington, DC based instrumental funk group with soul jazz influences. Bringing their years of collective experience in the DC and NYC music scenes, the band delivers tight, energetic sets steeped in fresh improvisation and head-bopping, booty-shaking pockets. Backbeat Underground was proud to serve as stewards of the funk in DC’s first and second annual Funk Parade, and the band is quickly gaining notoriety for their organic and smoldering blend of soulful funk and jazz.

ALLI REECE  IS A SINGER/SONGWRITER, AN UP AND COMING PHOTOGRAPHER, AN ACTIVIST, A CONTENT CREATOR, AND AN OUT & PROUD GAY MAN FROM THE GREATER AUSTIN AREA LOCATED IN CENTRAL TEXAS. GROWING UP IN BASTROP TEXAS, HIS EARLY LIFE WAS FILLED WITH MUSIC. HIS FAMILY ON HIS DADS SIDE PERFORMED  EVERY WEEKEND AS A GROUP CALLED THE REECE BROTHERS BAND. THEY WERE A COUNTRY COVER BAND WITH A FEW ORIGINALS AND A LITTLE ROCK & ROLL SPRINKLED INTO THEIR FOUR HOUR SETS. MUSIC WASN'T JUST A HOBBY, IT WAS A WAY OF LIFE FOR THE REECE FAMILY, WHO ALSO ALL LIVED NEXT DOOR TO EACH OTHER ON A GRAVEL ROAD  CALLED  GREEN VALLEY DRIVE, AND ALSO  RAN A BRICK  MASONDRY  BUSINESS TOGETHER BY DAY TRADE. FAMILY WAS IMPORTANT, AND STILL IS TO ALLI. WITH MUSIC IN HIS  BLOOD, ALLI  DECIDED TO  TEACH  HIMSELF THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR AT THE AGE OF 19, AND WITH A  LITTLE HELP FROM HIS DAD, MARK REECE, AND LEARNING EVERY PATTY GRIFFIN COVER HE  COULD, HE BEGAN WRITING HIS OWN SONGS  SOON AFTER, THE FIRST ONE WAS COMPLETED JUST 6 WEEKS AFTER PICKING UP THE GUITAR FOR THE FIRST TIME. MAY IT HAVE NOT BEEN AS GOOD NOR PROFOUND AS JEWEL'S FIRST SONG SHE WROTE  (WHO WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL),  IT WAS A START. ADD SOME OF LIFE'S SEASONING TO A BOWL OF HARD LESSONS, WITH A HEFTY SERVING OF BROKEN HEARTS, AND ALLI REECE IS SERVING A TASTY TREAT VIA THIS COLLECTION OF SONGS HE IS WORKING ON THAT HE IS  EXCITED TO RELEASE IT INTO THE  WILD!
