It is Monday the 2nd of June 2014 and we welcome Anthony Parasole from Brooklyn for the first time on the CLR Podcast. Anthony is a longtime employee of Halcyon, friend of Levon Vincent and partner in Deconstruct Music. He is a prominent figure within the underground House and Techno resurgence of NYC, known for the deepest sounds of those genres and for gracing multiple dance-floors home and abroad from Shelter to Berghain. Anthony has had a breakout year in 2012 with his track "TYSON" featured on the highly acclaimed Fabric 63, mixed by Levon Vincent. He also launched his new label The Corner with the release COR-01 "Tri-State" by Dj Qu & Nor'Easter, which sold out worldwide. Just recently he released COR-02 "Atlantic Ave" by Anthony Parasole & Phil Moffa to highly critically acclaimed reviews on multiple online magazines. PREMIERE: Dro, Stepan Gusak - I Like [PR009]

Stealth is a special compilation selected and mixed by Peter Van Hoesen. The fourteen track album pulls together his own exclusive material along with previously unreleased tracks from his closest musical peers. It comes in the form of three EPs (both on vinyl and digital), a digital download as well as a special mix CD. 

The idea here was for Peter to combine a mix album with an artist album; to marry his own music with the sounds he is influenced by. The cultured likes of Voices from the Lake, Mike Parker, Yves De Mey and Imaginary Softwoods, amongst others, all make the cut. “I believe less and less in the artist as a solo subject, whereby the ego of the artist seems to be the driving force,” he explains of the thinking behind this project. “On the contrary, I think we exist within a multitude of connections, who we are is as much defined by who is around us. Stealth is a little reminder of that.” 

Originally Peter intended to edit and remix the tracks he was sent from friends, but instead he allows them to play out in full as they knit with his own style so perfectly. The Time To Express boss here offers us a perfect window into his current musical world. It is one where there is a keen and streamlined focus on trance inducing percussive patterns (especially on his own contributions) and is where techno takes on a spiritual, otherworldly form that truly consumes your mind. “I really feel that a new chapter is starting in me,” he says. “And this project serves as a subtle announcement of that”.

Berghain's latest resident shows his wares. 

There are around 20 DJs who could be considered Berghain/Panorama Bar residents, but that doesn't make us any less curious when someone new joins the fold. Answer Code Request is Patrick Gräser, a DJ and live act who has been playing monthly at the Berlin house and techno institution since August of last year. Gräser established the ACR alias in 2011, releasing a startlingly assured four-track EP coupled with an appearance on Marcel Dettmann's Conducted mix for Music Man. This fact, however, is a little misleading: Gräser has been producing—if not releasing—music for much of the last decade. He grew up in the same East German town, Fürstenwalde, as Marcel Fengler and Marcel Dettmann, sharing their formative clubbing experiences during the '90s in nearby Berlin. 

Gräser's first formal releases arrived around 2008, as he put out a run of house-orientated tracks on labels like liebe*detail and his own short-lived Nightsingale imprint. While this material showed promise, it was later as Answer Code Request that Gräser really came into his own. The best example we can point you to is Main Mode and The Host, a pair of 12-inches released simultaneously through Marcel Dettmann Records that we last year described in similar terms to Shed's multifarious, '90s-informed approach to techno and broken beats.
