Bio: For more than 30 years Finnish musician Pekka Airaksinen recorded what he described as “a new type of devotional music”. Sounding like a hybrid free jazz that incorporates synthesisers and an 808 his work was truly unique. Pekka sadly passed away this May leaving a vast back catalogue of recordings that improviser, DJ and frequent collaborator with Pekka, Iku Sakan, explores, paying tribute to Pekka’s life and work.

In the shadow of United States Confederate Statue takedowns Alex Head & Nina Prader excavate underlying tensions entwined with a delicate and nuanced problem: Assembling America.

The scars of the racial discrimination in America have yet and may never heal. It is their presence in the face of historical erasure that must be witnessed.

In response to discourses of left/right activism around the removal or relocation of historic Confederate Statues, sub_ʇxǝʇ attempts to relocate our current crisis within specific historical, social and economic biases.

The team from School of Improper Education will broadcast sample frequencies from Merapi Volcano, Indonesia. The broadcast is part of a three day observatory camp in Merapi Volcano to make conditions for the dissolution of knowledge hierarchies and to situate the collective learning in an environment where uncertainty unfolds in various ways.
