Derived from the Latin “Ultimae Terrae,” meaning “the furthest places,” the name Ultimae reflects a profound theme of exploration. This concept is at the heart of Ultimae Records, an ambient music record label and publisher dedicated to transporting listeners to the outer edges of experience through sound and offering a space for introspection and discovery within the vastness of the mind and beyond.

In 1999, Vincent Villuis and Sandrine Gryson, also known as AES Dana and Mahiane, united over a shared passion for the immersive world of electronic music. This collaboration led to the birth of the label. Initially envisioned as a musical portal, Ultimae’s mission was to explore and disseminate the diverse expressions of Ambient music far and wide through the production of records and the establishment of an online shop.

Over the years, Ultimae has expanded beyond its original scope, evolving into a multifaceted company with sound design, post-production, and mastering studios based in Lyon, France, along with professional services in publishing, music licensing, and synchronization.

"I inspire to create euphoric, deep, spiritual and at the same time intensively dark and powerful sounds. I shapeshift from eternal light to infinite darkness, creating journeys into the intergalactic cosmos, travelling through space and time, sharing sounds that heal with the power of Universal love and light whilst diving deeper into twisted fantasies, a never ending darkness of the infinite realms."

Each one of them started producing music at the early 2000. Being friends for many years & having the need to create something unique, they decided to join forces. Tuning their different acoustic influences, combining music knowledge, creativity & fantasy, they formed Sygnals in 2007.
Their sole purpose is to produce cerebral music for inner & outer mind-journeys, throughout a fusion of chill-out, downbeat & atmospheric psychedelic soundscapes..!
