Tigers and Emperors is a Brisbane-based alt-folk-blues-country band formed by a group of like-minded musicians and friends from quite varied backgrounds.

Our music blends beautiful harmonies and layered instrumentation with poignant lyrics, creating a sound which is quite unique, and ends up full of sunshine and happiness, drama and joy.

The band draws its name from the different butterflies found in the Australian landscape such as Blue Tigers and Imperial Lacewings. Most of the songs have been written at different outdoor jamming locations around the Brisbane River. There is a strong Australian influence in the song themes and imagery.

About the musicians: Damien Murtagh and Fflur Collier come from their own folk pop band 'Sans Grenadine' who have played at Woodford and around Brisbane. Richie Coster plays in rock band Harvton. Mark Cocquio plays drums in blues/rock band Fuzzy Polaroid. Shane Dillon plays sweet sweet bass. We also have a water bottle bass drum called Boris.

We have been playing, gigging and recording together for several years.

The Willow Seed is a Brisbane band that deliver an authentic blend of folk and roots music.  Playing to the soulful tunes of singer-songwriter, Catherine Stevens, the group combine groove and melody to embellish Catherine’s songs which explore elements of love, life, growth, the journey, connection to community and the land.  Currently comprised of Catherine on guitars and vocals and bass player, Stephen Meldrum, the pair are working with a host of other musicians to produce their debut EP due for release in early 2014.  

Sweet and haunting melodies, melodic guitar playing on electric and acoustic guitars, subtle embellishing keys and synths and a tight rhythm section, the band's sound ranges from quieter, soft folk through to more upbeat, rhythmic tunes.  The band have been together since Catherine decided three years ago to expand her solo performances with bass and drums, to give life to the strong rhythmic element in her songs.  After meeting Stephen at a local jam night in Brisbane, the pair have be working together ever since.  The later part of 2013 has seen the band focus strongly on recording material for the EP as well as a mini acoustic tour down the east coast.  They look forward to a huge year ahead so stay tuned.
