The clathrate gun hypothesis describes scenarios in which climate change induced thawing of permafrost releases methane deposits into the atmosphere at unimaginable quantity and speed. While the threat is still a topic of scientific debate, the potential burden on the atmosphere and the effects on climate change would be catastrophic.

The melodic content of Clathrate Gun was developed from a musical cryptogram created from the Paris Accord. Climate change is real. Australia burns. We stand on the precipice of global catastrophe.

Composed for prepared Disklavier, various synthesisers, coins and electronic instruments built from recordings of medical equipment.
