"Please do not slam the door / Mancunian Snapshots" is a brisk collage of sound fragments captured in Manchester city centre during winter 2017. All kind of daily life’s details, funny moments, mini tragedies, street chats and noises are mashed up in quickly passing blocks of sound, constituting a fragmented personal portrait of the city. Sonic glimpses of private and public sphere - inside and outside the doors - are brought together as a spontaneous reaction to a separated and contrasting social life. Perception and time get blurred through the constant interplay between real and surreal and repetitions of same sonic material placed in different contexts.

Bernard Parmegiani’s 'De Natura Sonorum' is a monolithic twelve-movement work of electronic music, premiered in 1975. In this arrangement for sextet of the second movement, Accidents/Harmoniques, I have set myself the impossible task of distilling the infinite world of electronic sound into something reproducible by acoustic instruments. Such a process can hold a lens to the parent work to see it in a new way, be a means to discover new techniques and sounds in instrumental composition, and opens questions of reducibility: What are the essential features of a work? To what extent can we say that such a reproduction is ‘the same’ or of the same category of its source material?

Commissioned and premiered by Standing Wave, 18 January 2018, Vancouver Symphony New Music Festival, The Orpheum.

Upperground Orchestra is the hybrid Jazz band of Rabih Beaini and his fellow musicians Tommaso Cappellato (drums), Piero Bittolo Bon (woodwinds/electronics) and Alvise Seggi (Bass / Oud). The band is returns with a new LP, years after "The Eupen Tapes". Euganea is a 5 tracks LP recorded during the Musica Veneta residency, promoted by FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) in the great context of Villa dei Vescovi. Working around Veneto music, the band developed pieces that merge deep roots of original fusion (tape music, electronics and synths, processing) with the free spiritual jazz sound of Upperground Orchestra.
