I've had the pleasure of working with Janine Levinson a few times now. In listening to her own tracks I've commented a few times how much she reminds me of one of my all time favorites, Laura Nyro. Anyway she graciously offered to do a cover of one of Ms. Nyro's tracks and I picked this one. She killed it, in my opinion and I got to have a great time filling in around her. The pandemic has forced my friends at Rural Grit Happy Hour back in Kansas City to move their weekly open mic session online. It's sad that they can't meet in person, but it has allowed me, three years after moving to the East Coast, to join in on something I've sorely missed. It's great to (virtually) hang out with these folks once again.

A couple of weeks ago, the theme was Songs About Food, and it prompted me to complete an idea that had been floating untethered in my head for a while.

Describing time is not ever going to be easy, but in her own unique way, Emily Brontë is able to effectively convey a powerful means of doing so.
The images described are fairly simple — the past is something to be longed for, the present is something to plan in, and the future is something to look forward to.
The natural imageries used are phenomena that a child might observe all the time while growing up. The childlike simplicity of the metaphors combined with it`s inner meanings is what makes this poem so beautiful.
