Ian Ludvig breaks into Surrrealism with “Almost Human EP”.

A 3 track high voltage package to sign a top notch release. The Spanish talent bursts in with his roughest side to complete a work destined for the dancefloor. A display of talent to create avant-garde sounds.

"Almost Human" kicks things off. With an imposing bass drum that gives way to a firm bass and accompanied by drilling percussions. A sweet melody is the prelude to an explosion that will shake every foundation on the dancefloor.

"Closing Doors" is the follow up. Immersing us in a dynamic and incessant rhythm, a vocal breaks in and leads us to melancholy. The rough synthesizers appear in an imposing way to every nerve in our body. A waste of mastery on Ian's part.

"Karnak" is the last stop. Welcome to the gates of hell. Gloomy atmospheres and mysterious sounds riding on a rough rhythm teleport us to the underground. A storm of roars unleashing uncontrolled rage. The lights go out, we enjoy the darkness.

We caught up with Andrea to talk up the making of his latest release, naivety in art as well as his studio modus operandi.

Before the LP kicks off his newly minted Prins Thomas Musikk imprint on November 24, we debuted this piano-driven take on first single "Å" by Spanish studio wizard Pional. Chained to a ladder: There’s no way up. There’s no way down. You’re hung on a rung and there’s there no place to escape as Dino Lenny delves into your innermost psyche with this heavy slice of pedigree Italian electronica. A Darkroom Dubs debut from the original craftsman, ‘Chained To A Ladder’ is ominous in its mood and tone, dramatic in its new romantic vocal style and uncompromised with its devilish analogue aesthetic.

Remix-wise we’re unquestionably spoilt as label bosses Silicone Soul unleash their first production of the year with an immense 9+ minute cosmic bluesy stew, cooked slow and low with deep psychedelic flavours. A version that develops the original’s story in a stark way; this is what remixes were invented for.

Last but not least, Dino seals the deal with ‘The Right Place’. A broken drum mutant powered by technoid rocket fuel, its breakbeats drive a writhing groove that’s awash with touches of classic electro, new beat and hardcore with dark broadsword bass sweeps. Splashed with sudden blasts of synth colour, Dino’s signature sense of contrast is visceral, focused and direct. A true homage to every genre’s foundations and salute to the future; tremors can be felt from techno to drum & bass.

As the recently released ‘Darkroom Dubs Volume IV’ celebrated the last few years of releases, Dino sets the scene for another exciting chapter for the label. A chapter that will see the label continue to explore its signature atmospheric late-night sounds and celebrate its 15th anniversary this year. We’ll leave you hanging right here…

With already three releases on Stereo MCs' label Connected, it's safe to say that Florian Busse is more than just a steady contributor to the label but a part of the Connected-family. His upcoming four tracker 'Together' seizes the sense of community - not solely with the EP's name but in addition to that with a remix by Re.You for the title track. However, it's 'Connection' that depicts Florian Busse's preference for arps. Starting off slowly the listener gets more and more swept into the track's melodic approach as the hypnotic effect grows with every further tone it goes deeper into the track, into one's mind and links the connecting factors of both. The outcome is a track, supported by a partly crunchy bass line - mostly when the chords become softer, that beautifully presents the possible interaction between music and its recipient.

Florian Busse's EP Together' will be released on Connected May 10th, 2019.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
