French citizen Olivier Mateu stands for sophisticated and musical techno music, released on imprints like F Com, Mobilee and Systematic. His productions always have a certain 'something' which a many producers cannot deliver, fuelled by passion and love.

'Mistral' was originally released on the '10 yrs of Systematic' compilation on CD only, but after a massive public demand it was clear that it must be released on vinyl and backed by new remixes.

Who else could we chose but the labels most popular artists, label head Marc Romboy and Stephan Bodzin. Reworking the original in their own unique way, both deliver epic, energetic and symphonic versions!!!

The first track on the EP comes with courtesy of Human Machine, a musical project comprised of four Sicilian DJs and friends. ‘Africa’ features slow building layers of synth chords over a strolling bassline, for a straight up track that fits perfectly into the Diynamic sound.

Exclusive Human Machine 'Rosetta'

After Italian run label Engrave Ltd released their first compilation, simply named 'Volume 1', label bosses @dodi-palese and @musumeci return with the second chapter of the compilation series, which follows the concept of the first release by offering a platform for known but also up-and-coming artists of the electronic music scene. Quite established and renowned are Musumeci, Sisio, Simeone and Pavi alias Human Machine, who have created quite some buzz around their music ever since their first release '146', which was out on Connaisseur Recordings in 2016. The quartet rarely provides its audience with new material but when they do the music dives deep beyond the surface. 'Rosetta', Human Machine's contribution for 'II', is no exception. Starting off with an almost techno-ish bass line it is Musumeci, Sisio, Simeone and Pavi's preference for creating memorable melodies that not only comes through but takes over and is carried by the clap and recurring forward pushing and twisted synth-sounds that unload their energy.

German duo Avidus bring their spellbinding style to Crosstown this March. The pair have conceived a four track EP that serves to showcase their unique sound.

Avidus ​have produced a mesmerising EP that submerges the listener in an intriguing sonic soundscape. Speaking of the creative process, they ​explain that “​the first sketches of ​‘XII’ and ‘Psalm 23’ were made in 2015/2016 during the process of producing tracks for our first live sets. The focus was on powerful elements that have an emotional impact on whoever was listening”. ​On title track ​XII prominent drums arise alongside dramatic strings that create a track full of suspense. ​Psalm 23 ​opens with an ethereal vocal sample that bleeds into a high-octane beat that’s pacing and intense. On the flip, “​more recent tracks ‘Lux’ and the new edit of ‘Revenge of the Whales’ balance the EP out very nicely on an emotional level”. Lux i​ s a dreamy and emotive number, calmer than its predecessors with a breathtaking breakdown, whilst ​last year’s ​Revenge Of The Whales ​gets a rework for Crosstown. Avidus conclude; “​we’re proud to share this release”.

Hailing from Kiel in North Germany Fritz Wagner and Marc Wolf, aka ​Avidus​, ​have forged a strong partnership over the years. Fritz began producing music in the late 90s, making Hip Hop beats and pop music before moving on to house. During his early years, Marc produced backing tracks for hardcore bands before DJ’ing at illegal, outdoor raves. He started his own night ENDVR at Kiel’s Luna Club, where he invited guest such as Âme, Roman Flügel, Barnt and Marcus Worgull. Their diverse musical tastes and influences are apparent in their music, which refuses to be confined to any one genre. The duo launched their own imprint Empore Music in 2014 that has charted releases from Johannes Albert amongst others.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
