It's sometimes unexplainable; it can be simply a feeling and not always something tangible. Of course you're drawn in by landscapes or delicious cuisines, by the pace of life and the lifelong friends you make connections with. When you visit a new city, the questions swirl around your head 'can I see myself living here?', 'can I drop my life back home and start afresh here?' After playing one of System 108's regular events in Moscow, Omnidisc boss Danny Daze became enchanted by the city and the crew behind the party-turned-label, so much so he extended his flight. He channels that passion for the Russian capital into his new release for System 108; a split EP alongside one of his production heroes and friends, Anthony Rother. Inspired by and dedicated to Moscow's atmosphere, the pair's Binary EP is a blend of raw dancefloor-orientated techno and electro, with the title track getting a remix from Etapp Kyle and Tarra who twit it into a bass-driven electro cut.

Delsin is pleased to welcome a true pillar of the contemporary techno scene, Answer Code Request (@answercoderequest), for his first EP in six years.

As an integral part of the Ostgut Ton family since breaking through some 10 years ago, Patrick Gräser has shaped a patient but potent discography which embodies the hybridised nature of techno in the 21st Century. His distinctive style of melodically embellished, subtly fractured body music helps define the contemporary zeitgeist, but it also moves with enough emotional maturity to stand on its own terms as compelling, artist-led electronic music.

Arriving some four years after his second LP Gens, the Shattering EP opens in an especially exploratory mode as Gräser teases elements of breakbeat and ambient techno on the spellbinding ‘Resonate’. ‘Shattering’ finds a different palette through which to explore broken rhythms, leaning in on a heavyweight bassline injected with rave-wired distortion. There are more linear techno pulses to be found in the tunnelling propulsion of ‘CRS-21’, but in the interests of contrast the EP closes with the sparkling refraction of ‘Sustaining Life’, a floor-ready masterclass in electronica with teeth.

Cybotron has re-emerged in our contemporary cybercultural age when artifactual futures begin a transition into a new era of "Meta". 
 
By combining their knowledge of philosophy, science fiction, and mechanical engineering, at a time when electronic instrument companies were only just beginning to distribute their products to the masses, two prosumer audio technicians named Juan Atkins and Rik Davis were able to re-engineer Cybotron  &ndash;  a combination of the words "Cyborg" and "Cyclotron" (an atomic particle accelerator) &ndash; to be used as a home studio performance music that would change the course of independently produced and distributed electronic music.
 
Dissolving the boundary between singer, songwriter, and producer, Juan Atkins named Cybotron's future forward funkadelic sound "techno" in reference to Alvin Toffler's concept of unlikely "techno rebels" against technocracy. Techno is music that sounds like technology, and its purpose was to help society survive our collision with a universally felt "future shock" by inserting an audio virus into the cultural matrix. 
 
Techno's blueprint spread across the Detroit-Berlin Axis between Metroplex and Tresor. As human society began its transition from a post-industrial to an information-based market economy, Cybotron enabled a thorough system override of the human senses towards a tangible man-machine hybridity and showed the world how to channel their emotions and imaginations into new sound technologies and create new 'sonic' spatialities where listeners can transport themselves out of the physical world into the future. The cover of their debut album Enter (1983) transmitted a fragmented view of a body in motion being digitized mid-stride, dissolving physical and virtual reality into sonic fiction.
 
Today, the man-machine hybridity of Cybotron is still the truest form of techno, coevolving in conversation with the technological music they created and inspired. The latest data disk marks a new chapter that reflects a techgnostic musical expression of the knowledge acquired during their decades-long hiatus. Unlike the dance music industrial replications of the Model 500 formula, acknowledging the content marketing expectations that segments music into specific, sellable genres, this techno music is self-aware.
Cybotron processes dance music tropes spawned from its very own blueprint with a meta-tactical precision out of sync with our current rave new world. 

Cybotron's return demonstrates a studied engagement with what techno was and should be with a peerless update of Juan Atkins' initial inventive idea of do-it-yourself electrically reengineered music xeroxed onto both sides of the 12" &ndash; uploaded directly into the alleys of your mind.

If anything, Stojche’s take on Detroit inspired techno rarely requires your permission for engagement. The fifth installment of his own label, Tangible Assets, is no different. This singular producer always manages
to conjure up otherworldly atmospheres that resonate from head to feet. With that said, we could spend the next three paragraphs throwing around adjectives and splashing colorful words all over this press release regarding his sound, the aesthetic within each track in this release, and we could even volunteer a side helping of words that somehow make sense of this young producers studio ability.

One thing however is for certain. TANG005’s true charm lies in its ability to capture an honesty and sincerity that’s as captivating as it is transcendent. There’s a clinical yet organic approach that Stojche
adopts time and time again in formulating his Tangible Asset releases, and if anything, TANG005 should provide further evidence of his depth, maturity and innate ability to create enchantment.
This record is wrapped in captivating moments born from flourishing stabs, twilight synths, rolling charges of calculated manic rhythms and subatomic motions living within a range of intricately programmed beats.
Add to that a host of cinematic sweeps that develop into harmonic clouds of melancholy and you’re one step closer to the true romance etched within the grooves of this record.

Datawave delivers a tune that keeps the atmospheric idea of the label at heart but experiments with driving rhythms and acid lines.

For its second release, Russian label Analog Concept brings you four powerful and floor-ready electro tracks from rising stars in a dedicated genre; Starting with our favourite Liverpool producer nowadays – Reedale Rise and his frisky tune Borderland that can easily work out at 5 am as well as at 5 pm. Joyful and broken rhythm promises it will shake your body properly. Simon has been seen on labels like Frustrated Funk, 20:20 Vision, Kondi etc. The next in line is Nullptr from the east side of the Island. Label boss of d-tached records and co-promoter of Cambridge-based electro night Motherchip Connexion. Coming from labels such as Detroit Underground and CPU Records it is expected this guy brings only premium sounds. He delivers a strong and vibrant track that you cannot remain indifferent to. Side B is reserved for a Belgian producer know by the name of Datawave with a catalog of finest releases in the last few years on labels like AC Records, Vortex Traks, Fundamental Records, Natural Sciences and the Croatian producer Ivna Ji with British label Brokntoys behind her. Datawave delivers a tune that keeps the atmospheric idea of the label at heart but experiments with driving rhythms and acid lines. Last but not least is Ivna's track Alpha Dial, composition that isn’t focused on dancefloors but instead entices the listener into a slowly progressing story, heavily loaded with dreamy synth lines.

Hamatsuki - Pre Accident Demo Tape [VA002]

At midnight, on March 13th 1991, a basement door opened at Leipziger Strasse 126, Berlin. Through this door, many passed, on their way to defining new terrains in electronic music. There they found a dance floor in the vaults of a closed-down department store, with a unique sound bound to dense fog, building night after night a history that was also a vision of the future. 

This history has seen in Jeff Mills’ first sets on three turntables, Underground Resistance's first live appearances in Europe, grandiose Tresor Park parties, to various chapters of the Loveparade with Sven Väth in the 90s and since then countless generation-spanning parties. These moments represent the highlights of infinite personal clubbing experiences. It is the manifestation of the Berlin spirit, emerging from its considerable strife. This history is not without its complications - from temporary closure by the authorities and several raids in the early years to closure and demolition of the old location in 2005. What followed was years of wandering in exile and, finally, resurrection in the new home in Kraftwerk Berlin.

These stories, conversations and shared experiences within our walls forge a resilience that drives towards a shared ideal, the Tresor sound: community, resistance, and the world to come. This was observed in the newly re-unified German youth, who danced and celebrated together from the club’s inception, and into the present day through ongoing community work in Detroit. 

Tresor Records was founded in the same year and began to serve as a platform for exporting the new sounds associated with Tresor all around the world. Emergent musicians from Michigan, such as Juan Atkins, Underground Resistance and Drexciya, were pivotal in shaping these early years. Their visits to Berlin would kick-start dialogue between the youth movement in Europe and these musicians. This story is one of friendship and community-building, inextricably linked with cities like Detroit, Birmingham or Edinburgh, where like-minded friends built something truly special, where revelatory rhythms soundtrack decaying industry in corrupted metropoles. 

Tresor Records has been the fertile soil for dozens upon dozens of creative minds, from the very luminaries of the scene who developed electronic music over the last three decades through to contemporary protagonists who are currently defining the sound of the future -  A more than 300 strong catalogue displays an unmistakable identity - the Tresor spirit.

To those that have danced before, and to those that will dance in the future: the light at the end of the long Tresor tunnel is a signal. A flicker amidst the fog. This is our future. This is our place.
