Embarking on their 17th sonic sojourn shrouded in enigmatic allure and veiled in mystery, Observant presents the debut release of sr² — a purposeful new moniker of a well-known figure in the techno circuit since 2007. 
Formed to direct attention exclusively to music, eschewing the distractions of self-presentation, personality, and persona, it stands as an cryptic entity, a calculated construct devoted to the core of artistic expression.

This Leipzig-based producer presents three originals with a muscular onslaught advocated through all his years of experience producing, teaching, and running a record label. 
Further fortifying this release are two prodigious remixers, MSDMNR and Oxygeno, based in Berlin (DE) and Lugo (ES) respectively, packing that cutting-edge ballistics and unapologetic sophistication to temper techno’s thriving contemporary.

In the realm of remixes, MSDMNR’s version of 'Geschlossene Räume' unveils cinematic sci-fi allure from the get-go, consistently keeping the original synth loop in focus, contrasted by the drum programming. 
Reimagining those textural layers from 'Zugmaschine' into his auditory kaleidoscope, Oxygeno spews a synthetic brew of articulated noises that swirl and throb over rippling kick drums and subs.

T-PREMIERE: PWCCA - Internal Conversion (Original Mix) [SGN047]

Tresor Records are excited to announce the new EP from machine techno luminary Lady Starlight aka Colleen Martin. Capricorn Rising comprises five razor-sharp cuts from the acclaimed producer, DJ, and Surgeon co-conspirator whose laser-focused work ethic reflects the EP's astrological namesake. 

Capricorn Rising is anchored by the record's most propulsive, trance-inducing cut, "Mass;" an off-kilter conversation between chattering birds and a breathing sample that makes for an otherworldly melody. "I wanted to create a feeling rather than a sound," explains Martin of the catalyst for the record. 

Martin describes the recording of Capricorn Rising as a cathartic process. "I thought of myself as fearless since I have always rejected societal norms and I'm very comfortable expressing ideas," she offers. "However, I realised I actually had a lot of fear when expressing anything emotional." 

The EP is the outcome of shaking off that fear. Using her feelings as a guide, Martin creates a space somewhere between euphoria, dissociation, and wonder. "This is where I hope to take the listener," she says. 

This emotional liberation peaks on "Reinforce," which sidesteps towards extraterrestrial acid and swirling, cosmic pads that reach for a new dimension. Meanwhile, "Chapter 23" is an industrial-dipped roller that creaks with eerie atmospherics before erupting into a meteor shower of kicks. This percussive workout continues on "Prism," which makes a plea for bodily oblivion. 

Martin often closes out her live sets with the EP's euphoric title track; a seamless, starry-eyed slammer that encapsulates the headiness of the Lady Starlight universe. Oiled and limbered for the dancefloor, these are dynamic, teflon-tough techno tracks that deftly align with Martin's virtuosic hardware performances.

At midnight, on March 13th 1991, a basement door opened at Leipziger Strasse 126, Berlin. Through this door, many passed, on their way to defining new terrains in electronic music. There they found a dance floor in the vaults of a closed-down department store, with a unique sound bound to dense fog, building night after night a history that was also a vision of the future. 

This history has seen in Jeff Mills’ first sets on three turntables, Underground Resistance's first live appearances in Europe, grandiose Tresor Park parties, to various chapters of the Loveparade with Sven Väth in the 90s and since then countless generation-spanning parties. These moments represent the highlights of infinite personal clubbing experiences. It is the manifestation of the Berlin spirit, emerging from its considerable strife. This history is not without its complications - from temporary closure by the authorities and several raids in the early years to closure and demolition of the old location in 2005. What followed was years of wandering in exile and, finally, resurrection in the new home in Kraftwerk Berlin.

These stories, conversations and shared experiences within our walls forge a resilience that drives towards a shared ideal, the Tresor sound: community, resistance, and the world to come. This was observed in the newly re-unified German youth, who danced and celebrated together from the club’s inception, and into the present day through ongoing community work in Detroit. 

Tresor Records was founded in the same year and began to serve as a platform for exporting the new sounds associated with Tresor all around the world. Emergent musicians from Michigan, such as Juan Atkins, Underground Resistance and Drexciya, were pivotal in shaping these early years. Their visits to Berlin would kick-start dialogue between the youth movement in Europe and these musicians. This story is one of friendship and community-building, inextricably linked with cities like Detroit, Birmingham or Edinburgh, where like-minded friends built something truly special, where revelatory rhythms soundtrack decaying industry in corrupted metropoles. 

Tresor Records has been the fertile soil for dozens upon dozens of creative minds, from the very luminaries of the scene who developed electronic music over the last three decades through to contemporary protagonists who are currently defining the sound of the future -  A more than 300 strong catalogue displays an unmistakable identity - the Tresor spirit.

To those that have danced before, and to those that will dance in the future: the light at the end of the long Tresor tunnel is a signal. A flicker amidst the fog. This is our future. This is our place.
