May 13th see the release of 'Bluebird, Hollywood... Domino' the lead track from the anticipated mini LP '... from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I' to be released in on July 9th 2021

'Bluebird...' is a psychedelic upbeat 6/8 stomp. As one reviewer has stated reminiscent of '22 Dreams' period Weller and British psychedelic rock group Traffic. The overdriven bass and the chiming guitars have a hint of Macca's 'Rain' and Townsend's 'Seeker'

Indie dreampop shoegaze crossover artists Ummagma celebrate their ethereal Stereolab-MBV-spirited uber-song ‘Lama’ by releasing it, along with a package of eclectic remixes, on Emerald & Doreen Recordings. This LP features an international roster of producers and artists, most of whom are not directly connected with genres like indie, noise rock or dreampop. Apart from their own roots in Canada and Ukraine, this Ummagma LP represents a creative gathering ground for remixers from Italy, Sweden, Germany, Brazil and Russia - each contributing his own wavelength and energy to create a new version of ‘Lama’.

The outcome shows that beauty is found in diversity. Italy’s original electro new wave pioneer Alexander Robotnick sways with a spaced out, chilled dream pop version. Irregular Disco Workers add some severe 80s mood and 90s acid feel. Copycat fuses a Moroder-esque synth disco arpeggio with My Bloody Valentine-style vocals and guitars to ingeniously please indie and disco lovers at the same time! Theatre of Delays delivers a heartbreaking emo house version that brings you into the fifth dimension. Label-makers go nogo turn Lama into a Stereolab-esque breakbeat beauty with Notwist-like sounds and 90s indie guitars. Mind Movies turn ‘Lama’ into a flipping, winding mechanical world of breakbeat, swirling around its own axis, and spinning a beautiful tumbling dance. Sounds of Sputnik add a 70s psychedelic edge to it, infusing this track with electro wonder.

2014 also sees Ummagma pursuing various other collaborations, remixes and releases, involving Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), Malcolm Holmes (Orchestral Maneouvres in the Dark), Sounds of Sputnik (Moscow), Lights That Change (UK), Graingerboy (UK), and Graham Bonnar (Swervedriver/ Brian Jonestown Massacre).

Ummagma began in 2003 when Alexx (Ukrainian) and Shauna (Canadian) met at a concert in Moscow. Since then, they have been blending their love of synthpop, alternative rock and electronica to create deliciously diverse, dreamy music, loaded with positivity. They 'debuted' in 2012 by simultaneously releasing 2 LPs ('Antigravity' and 'Ummagma') in 2012.

In 2013, Ummagma won the Alternative Eurovision hosted by Amazing Radio, representing Ukraine from 21 countries, and picked up 2 awards at the Australian Independent Music Video Awards (including best international pop video), not to mention a full-page spread in Rolling Stone Russia.

Ummagma is an eclectic potpourri of dreampop, indie rock, electronica, post-rock, ethereal wave, space rock, post-punk, ambient and shoegaze. Their musical play is full of resonance, beats, rhythm and vocals ranging from gossamer to deadpan over a bed of intriguing soundscapes. Ummagma began as an affair of love and sound. Band members Alexx Kretov and Shauna McLarnon met in Moscow while soul searching, their relationship ultimately developing into a marriage and the musical partnership we know today as Ummagma. 

Ummagma debuted on the music scene in 2012, simultaneously releasing two debut albums. In the past few years, Ummagma has released several EPs involving several genuine music icons, including Dean Garcia (CURVE), Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), Rudy Tambala (A.R.Kane), and Malcolm Holmes (OMD).

Ummagma won the 2013 Alternative Eurovision on Britain's Amazing Radio (representing Ukraine amongst 23 countries), as well as numerous independent music video awards. They have been featured in Rolling Stone Russia and Rolling Stone Italia. Ummagma also co-wrote, produced and performed on the 2014 debut Sounds of Sputnik EP, which saw them working with Graham Bonnar (Swervedriver, Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Fran Ashcroft (Damon Albarn, Lords of Acid). This album held in the CMJ charts for 7 weeks and earned them a Jagermeister Music Award (Russia's most prestigious indie music award).
