I'm going to be honest, here. I don't think that Toriel has the heart to go Undying and beat Frisk up. She's famously known for not liking violence, and, even when one of her kind, (her son, no less) was killed by a human, she didn't resort to try killing humans out of revenge. In fact, she ran to the Ruins to protect humans. So, even if Frisk did a genocide route where they killed monsters, she wouldn't try to kill Frisk.   Plus, I bet that, even if Frisk killed Asriel, she wouldn't make the connection that Frisk killed him, due to not wanting to, and also due to the fact that she didn't see them do it. And, even if she did make the connection, she probably still wouldn't try to kill Frisk, because Asgore killed people that she considered her children, as well, and she didn't try to murder him.

When I imagine Storyshift Toriel, I imagine her doing everything in her power to keep Frisk safe and convince them not to go past the Waterfall equivalent of the au. I imagine her working to make the Waterfall equivalent the best and most comfortable place in the Underground, doing things like planting gardens and funding schools so that human children can get an education. I imagine that if none of her methods work, and Frisk still tries to go beyond the area that's under her jurisdiction, she would try to make Frisk prove that they are strong enough to survive. I imagine that Frisk could either fight her and knock her down, like how they do to Asgore in the original Undertale, or they could find a way to spare her. I imagine that sparing her would be one of the steps that Frisk must take to get the True Pacifist ending.

Papyrus is meant to represent Toriel. In Mettaton's retelling of the events, Papyrus is one of the archeologists and scientists researching the ancient temple they're all in right now.

Near the end of the Temple, Papyrus realizes that Frisk is likely still woefully underprepared for the world beyond. Rather than scaring them into staying, however, he instead tries to come up with better reasons for them to stay. Such as the fact that they would make for a great addition to their ongoing research of the Temple, seeing as Frisk is human, and would likely have a unique perspective on things.

Flowey, and by extension his plush doll that looks like his past form, is meant to represent Papyrus. With the prince long gone, Mettaton felt it was important to respect his legacy. He needed someone who wouldn't hog all the attention for themself. Eventually, he'd find Flowey. A small, unassuming flower who by no means has ever had any importance in this story whatsoever.

The Dreemurrs would donate some of Asriel's old plush toys, and Mettaton (and the people he "hired" to help with costuming) put together a cute little outfit for it to wear. Flowey puppetteers it from off-stage, shouting his dialogue so the audience can hear it clear enough.

Not wanting their good times to end, Asriel challenges Frisk to a duel. If Asriel wins, Frisk has to stay; if Frisk wins, they get to move on.

The cast isn't the only thing at the whims of Mettaton's retelling, as the distinct locations across which the story takes place all have received a makeover as well! Inspired partially by Hotland, the Ruins has been transformed into an ancient, underground desert temple. It's also home to what used to be a communal area for both humans and monsters, many years before the war.

Toriel is meant to represent Undyne. In Mettaton's retelling, Toriel was one of the earliest members of the Royal Guard, being trained by war veterans in preparation for the inevitable. Since adopting Chara, her opinions on humans has changed, but she nonetheless feels duty bound as she has climbed the ranks of Royal Guardship and found herself being the leader.

Blaze of Glory

Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS.
One day, war broke out between the two races.
After a long battle, the humans were victorious.
They sealed the monsters underground with a magic spell.

Over the many years, humans have fallen down. All of which were different people.

Some were kind. Some were scared. Some were brave.
Some tried to fight. Some tried to run away.
Some stayed for a long, long time.

But only one set everyone free.


This is their story.
