Mettaton is the only main character of the game Undertale that I don't mind being hated, besides, maybe, Flowey. I don't mind if people like Mettaton, and I don't mind if people hate Mettaton. I see both liking and hating Mettaton as being justified. Personally, I don't mind Mettaton. Anyway, I wanted to say that.

A lot of people seem to hate Toriel. I think that she's the 2nd most hated main character if we exclude Alphys (I think that Flowey is the most hated main character). Personally, I don't hate Toriel, even after she did what she did in Deltarune Chapter 4.

Imagine Mettaton fighting the mirror but instead of fighting he just cherishes himself infront of the audience

Many years after Monsterkind had finally been set free, Alphys suggested to her friends that they all dress up as each other for Halloween, playing off the whole "dressing up as monsters" thing that humans were still prone to doing. A lot of them really seemed to like the idea. So much so, that a certain ghostly, theatrical entertainment robot would be inspired to write a stage play for him and his friends to perform in.

Toriel is meant to represent Undyne. In Mettaton's retelling, Toriel was one of the earliest members of the Royal Guard, being trained by war veterans in preparation for the inevitable. Since adopting Chara, her opinions on humans has changed, but she nonetheless feels duty bound as she has climbed the ranks of Royal Guardship and found herself being the leader.

After a long series of not-yet-to-be-disclosed events, Frisk finds themself back in the throne room, ready to face off against Sans. All of the friends they made throughout their journey, however, show up to put a stop to the impending bloodshed.

During this, the flowers in the garden of the throne room... start to weep. Sounds of despair, sounds of hope. Sounds from across all of time, past, present and future.

A lot of them really seemed to like the idea. So much so, that a certain ghostly, theatrical entertainment robot would be inspired to write a stage play for him and his friends to perform in.

Mettaton is meant to represent Chara, and takes a much more literal "Narrator" role. Being the writer of the stage play, and given the cards he had been dealt in the big Halloween Dress-up Party, Mettaton figured he'd be fine taking a less active role in the stage play. That is, until now.

Mettaton's play takes on a shocking twist. It's Halloween! What kind of writer would Mettaton be if he didn't give it a spooky twist!? Not even the other performers knew this was going to happen! The cast has no choice but to play along, and play dead when their time comes.
